3-0 Switzerland after the 2nd period, after a 4 on 1 breakaway by the Swiss. They are packing it in tight around the goal, leaving Russia nothing to shoot at, so it looks like Russia will live up to its reputation and exit in the QF once again. Boris Mikhailov looks very unhappy, but there is nothing he can do about it - only Putin himself could decide to get rid of Rumyantsev.

i doubt it, i bet putin personally knows ivanuzhenkov and it's such a small favour to keep his pal's coach from getting fired. and i wouldn't put all blame on rumyantsev here anyway. the material he has to work with is just abysmal.

Ok, Finland will play again against Switzerland in the semifinal, could be an interesting game..

Well done Swiss.

Russia is truly a team that can't be predicted. We sucked at U20 round robin and then went to beat USA and Sweden . The opposite situation here.

Unfortunately, you are right! Ivanyuzhenkov is reportedly a pal of Putin's. He hasn't gotten fired yet, so what makes anyone think that he ever will be replaced? This collapse today is no worse than any of the others under his direction for the past 6 or 7 years. I feel bad for the kids - they should be able to expect to have professional coaching. Congrats to the Swiss, but the difference for them today was superior coaching, and they probably won't have a coaching advantage against Canada in the Semifinals.

This is the norm for Russia in the U18. The kids get embarrassed every year. The difference between the U18 and U20 teams is coaching. The players are good, and this group will do fine when its their turn to play in the U20.

If we don't shape up at the U18 level it's gonna show soon on the U20 level aswell. Three straight without a medal, two QF losses.

Siegenthaler had a rough transition from the NLA PO-Finals to this tournament. Today he really showed his talent, physicaly dominant , smart decision-making with the puck. His skating and puckhandling have improved tremendously this season. Was the best Player in todays match beside Malgin...
