Where are the draft parties happening in the city? I know the Oilers are having one at Rexall but I would prefer to not spend money on crappy beer and food in that building more than I have to.

Oilersnation is having one at the pint but it looks like it is sold out.. Anyone know of any others?

I'm having one. 20L of Amber Red, 20L Blackheart(Guiness type beer), 20L of hefeweizen, 10L Belgian White(orange), 20L Moscato wine. All brewed at home, stoked!:naughty:

Too bad my Belgian Tripel won't be ready though...

I'm with you.

I think the Leafs pass on him too and Carolina ends up with a stud. Although, this is where I see Carolina dangling that pick for a possible overpayment. I think the Avs are going to make sure that they end up with Hanifin, Provorov or Werenski.

Toronto passing on hanifin for strome is going to be like lightening passing up on Jones. It'll come back to bite them on the a$$ so hard

My ideal draft day:

Oilers get mcdavid, one of the rRussians or Roy at 16. Trade both seconds and third for Talbot + lack, and leafs take strome at 4 and Carlo at 24

Hey Oiler nation. I took your team in a 7-round mock and was wondering what your thoughts would be if it shook out the way it did in the mock.

The only trade I made was Nail Yakupov, Martin Marincin and 16th overall to Nashville for Seth Jones and 85th overall.

1(1)-Connor McDavid
2(33)-Jake DeBrusk
2(57)-Ilya Samsonov
3(79)-Ryan Gropp
3(85)-Adam Musil
3(86)-Connor Hobbs
4(117)-Thomas Schemitsch
5(124)-Dryden Hunt
6(154)-Stephen Desrocher
7(184)-Tim McGauley

The mock started May 18th before the big rise in Samsonov's draft ranking. Thoughts?

We're the rest of the people drafting chimpanzees with laptops? How did some of those players drop so far? Great job.

I was over on the leafs board taking in some excellent fan bickering on marner v. barzal etc. and basking in the uncertainty.

How the hell did we win the lottery again?

I was talking about this with a couple of friends the other day. We would be arguing over Hanafin, Marner, Strome, etc with little hope in sight. Thank god that is out the window.

Also, I was a Hanafin guy for the record.

Auston Matthews is also a C, and I would hope the Yotes management isn't as short-sighted as ours were and realize to get elite defencemen first as they take far longer to develop than forwards.
So you're saying in 2010, Oilers should have drafted Fowler over Hall and in 2011, Oilers should have drafted Larsson over RNH. Good grief.

Hey guys, any of you think we should get Chaz Reddekopp in this years draft?

I like him and wouldn't mind drafting him, but I also wouldn't reach for him just to make sure we get him.

Haha. Yeah, I'm very happy we don't have to have that discussion. Last year it was Bennett vs Draisaitl but this year it would've been Strome vs Hanifin vs Marner vs Provorov vs maybe even someone else. That would have been painful. I'm still not sure who I'd take. Probably Hanifin.

Would have provided for a lot of fun debate though

This is the first time I can remember there being absolutely no debate about who take take with our first pick. Makes it a touch anti-climatic.

The Taylor vs Tyler debates were epic around here despite most wanting Hall. Even in the RNH/Yak drafts where the two of them were pretty clearly the top pick come draft time there was enough people playing devils advocate and making cases for Couturier/Larsson/Murray.

I think you did fantastic with the exception of Debrusk at 33 (I've gone sour on legacy picks and he doesn't really fill the Oilers' needs), but stealing guys like Samsonov, Gropp, and Schemitsch where you did more than makes up for it. Nurse-Jones-Klefbom sounds like a very sexy defensive corps.

Different situations. Hall and Seguin had no comparable d in first overall. Larsson could have been but center is just as important as d. But I agree for the yotes point of view getting hanafin now is a great point to start rebuild.
