I have a really strong felling, my spidy sense is tingling, we will trade the 16th. To the point that I don't think we should even talk much about it. Just makes so much sense and at the draft GM's will be offering for it.

I think most everyone expects it to be very in play.

Chiarelli has 2-3 weeks to make changes on this team. This is when things happen in the NHL. After the "frenzy" the summer is NHL dead season. Good luck making any moves.

Ya, got to know Chia will do something, and have to think the draft is when he wants to make a move. I don't think he will want to leave everything to UFA time, you know that can go sideways.

Whichever way it goes I'll still probably be happy. Who knows we could use our pick to trade up as well.

One breakdown of draft results I saw suggested that for Euros who came over to the CHL to play junior, and we're looking at their draft year being their rookie year in the CHL, we should give some credit to slightly lower point totals when looking towards the future and NHL viability.

Certainly Draisaitl exploded from his rookie year with Prince Albert to the next year, his draft year.

Anyone have a breakdown of CHL rookies this year?

- Zacha
- Andersson
- Zboril
- Korostlev

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Filip Chlapik. I am very high on this player and a big reason is the fact that you're mentioning. I think he is going to explode next year. He was already very good this year and he's a guy that's going to be a very good NHL player down the road and people will wonder why the heck he was taken in the 2nd round. Personally I have him in the 1st round while basically every scouting agency have him in the 2nd with McKenzie having him as low as #39. I think that's crazy. He has a somewhat similar playing style to David Krejci who came over to the CHL in his post-draft season and put up less points than Chlapik did this year in his draft season. If we're just comparing stats then Chlapik has outdone what Krejci did in his draft year and the year before, so it's a very good prospect we're talking about and frankly I don't think he is getting the credit he deserves and I have yet to figure out why that is.

The 16th does have value for many GM's desperate for offense. You know one of Konecny, Merkley or perhaps Meier will slide down(this is a strong draft year, it will be interesting and some of us will be surprised at picks as well). You know some GM will be on that phone trying to contact Chiarelli to acquire that 16th overall if they're favouring a prospect.

At the same time that's a valuable pick for Edmonton and at the moment there is time and room in the system to start developing players properly. The Detroit or Nashville mould. I also am in favour of drafting the best player available because at the end of the day it's most logical.

Thank you Paajarvi.

Provorov, although he played in North America for a few years before the CHL.

Samsonov will be gone at #33, so I am sold on Roope Hintz, he's one of the best two-way centers in this draft and he has size. Hintz makes my top 30 list if I made one.

Because when RNH, Hall, Eberle contracts are up and they ask for 8M+, we know guys like Svechnikov is 4 years developed and ready to fill those shoes. The only real untouchables on the Oilers will only be McDavid, RNH/Draisaitl, and Nurse/Klefbom.

I'm not so sure Draisaitl is untouchable. If Toronto loses out on Strome, I believe they would trade there pick. Draisaitl for Hanifin.

Great trade for both teams.

Draisaitl is not untouchable now, but if the oilers keep him for 3 years and he improves. He could make RNH expendable when the big 3 hits ufa.

It's hard to believe that a prospect widely regarded as being better than Sidney Crosby at 18 years old is going to be coming to Edmonton.

Did you suddenly just woke up the last few days?........were where you after April 18, 2015?.........Did you miss the draft lottery?

Assume you are talking about McDavid?

I just need him to be wearing that copper and blue on the 26th, to be completely satisfied.

Agreed. Until I see him put on the jersey it's still almost unbelievable to me.

I highly doubt Maloney passes on Hanifin. They've got a lot of good young forwards coming, but they badly need another dman with top pairing upside. Hanifin would round out the top 4 nicely.

Strong draft for offense, just my prediction.

I doubt they take Hanifin. Want to bet? :)

I'm with you.

I think the Leafs pass on him too and Carolina ends up with a stud. Although, this is where I see Carolina dangling that pick for a possible overpayment. I think the Avs are going to make sure that they end up with Hanifin, Provorov or Werenski.

I think they go with Strome. Big C's are hard to find and they need a C.
