Stamkos wasn't that highly hyped in his draft year.
Seenstamkos was just a marketing campaign to hype him Tampa fans, though, after they had the first overall pick in the bag. Different beast.I disagree. Don't you remember the seenstamkos.com campaign that year?? He was definitely hyped big time .
Please Sabres finish 30th. Jack Eichel on the Sabres would be incredible.
I have to admit, I'm getting cold feet with Eichel. The major concern is that he doesn't play as a cog in the machine, he is the machine. If the game isn't running directly through his stick, he's pretty useless. What I mean is that he doesn't make the simple play and read the game. He gets a ton of assists because of his athleticism allows him to beat a defender and find an open guy... I know I'm not articulating it well, but it's like, while guys like McDavid, Reinhart, RNH are playing chess and planning two or three steps ahead, Eichel is playing checkers and just has an ability to overwhelm lesser players. He's sort of has a puck hog mentality, albeit, an extremely talented puck hog.

My 2 cents---having seen him only on tv about 10 times. He has great wheels, good size, a nose for the net and great hands. He is powerful and goes all the time---but stays on for shifts of one to two minutes and then has trouble doing what he could have done if fresh. He is a me first player with passing a very secondary thing. Not that he cannot--he just does not use his team mates as well as say Reinhart. Still as a coach of kids for many years I yearned for players who were prepared to take it on their shoulders and go. I was of course disappointed with what I saw at the WJC but that was a snapshot only and on tv where you do not see everything that is going on so what you see can be out of context. Properly coached and with the right attitude the guy will be a force.
Wait the guy leading the country in assists is a me player? Not willing to use his teammates>?
those criticisms are just over analysis. Pick a player apart for too long and you start being critical of irrelevant things.

Question then. If we have the 2nd pick is there enough of that feeling to use it on Hanifin or Strome over Eichel?

Murray’s Sabres occupy the inside track to the top prospects after losing, 4-3, in overtime to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. With 48 points entering the weekend, and eight games left in the season, Buffalo ranks 30th in the N.H.L., while Arizona sits in 29th place with 54 points. The teams play one another again Monday night.
The bizarre race to the bottom has riveted and divided fans at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, where a sign in the upper deck Thursday read “# Pray for McDavid,†and many in attendance actually cheered the Sabres’ loss. Meanwhile, The Buffalo News has been running a graphic in its sports section each day called “McEichel Derby,†featuring the bottom-of-the-league standings, accompanied by the statistics of McDavid and Eichel.
Murray, architect of an inferior roster, has made no secret of his desire to add the 6-foot-1, 187-pound McDavid to the Sabres.
“You go through a year like this, it’s tough,†Murray said. “I feel bad for our players, I really do. It’s been a tough year. I’m the type of G.M., as everybody can see, I’ve traded away a lot of good players for the simple fact we have to get better. Our time’s the future. This guy I call our franchie-changing player.â€

You scouting report explains why BU is better with Eichel on the ice. Not just Eichel being good he improved the the play of others around him.My 2 cents---having seen him only on tv about 10 times.
