Most amazing thing about Eichel and McDavid?

Not one time have we heard a question mark or disappointment about either of them, they have not only matched the hype but have exceeded it. The last player to do that was Sidney Crosby.

Not true. Jack Eichel was the reason USA was bad at the WJC.

That still cracks me up, because I've went back and watched games and he was a man amongst boys out there.
Eh. It wasn't the fact that two of USAs lines didn't deserve to be anywhere near the WJC team. It was Eich's fault.

The USA coaching was superb too.

There's no denying he let the burden on his shoulders drive him to a poor approach the last few games as far as trying to do too much, but yeah. He was a great player for that team, a team that showed it simply didn't have the experienced talent to be a threat, on top of some pretty awful coaching decisions in my book. His linemates were pretty underwhelming most of the tournament. Compare to what Reinhart and McDavid got from their wingers. It's not even close. There were a games where I thought Hanifin was the best player for USA but Eichel was definitely the best player overall. It amazes me the way people reacted.

It didn't help that USA's entire game plan seemed to be "get it to Eichel he's pretty good".

FYI he mentioned Zacha and Strome in that group after the top guys, but also Dermott and Korostelev are top 60 picks.

I'd love Zacha. Not sure why his stock seemed to drop. I'd rather have him than Strome. Guys got that Kopitar-esque puck moving ability

Was flipping between the Niagara vs Ottawa and the Sabres game. Vince Dunn ended with 4G in an 8-5 loss. He is incredible offensively, his D zone needs a lot of work but he certainly has big time upside.

Day one wrap-up of Central Scouting's final meetings
By Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com Staff Writer

The opening day of NHL Central Scouting's final meetings to rank the top North American players eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft ended with the completion of five separate league lists and goaltender projections.

Dan Marr, NHL Director of Central Scouting, and his staff compiled rankings for the Western Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, USA-West and USA-East regions, which include all U.S. colleges and high schools, and the Canadian junior and midget leagues.

NHL Network or NBCSN better simulcast the results.....

No worries:

1. NHL Network has been showing the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast every Saturday during the season - and the league chose the lottery date for the TV attention it will draw on a weekend.
2. NHLN showed the lottery for the past 2 years.
3. 18th will be 1st weekend with playoff games so even if NHLN isn't covering the feed, I suspect NBCSN will during an intermission or pre-game event.

Who is going to be our this year's late-round pick from MODO? Ullmark, Possler, Olofsson... They can't end the row this year, can they?

Heads up: Hanifin plays on ESPN2 at 3 PM and Eichel at 5:30 PM.

Defenseman Jonathan Leman is the 51st-ranked European skater by Central Scouting. I saw at least one of his 3 games with the big club but don't really recall anything about him. He's mostly played with the J20 team. Lucas Ekeståhl Jonsson has also been with the J20 team, ranked #84.

Top prospects for 2015 draft provide self-evaluations
By Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com Staff Writer

Prior to every season, NHL Central Scouting has already evaluated hundreds of the top prospects eligible for the upcoming NHL Draft.

In addition to putting together meticulous reports and sharing those details with their colleagues, it's also required that each prospect submit some necessary paperwork.

So even before Erie Otters captain Connor McDavid and Boston University freshman Jack Eichel begin to impress, they've already completed the NHL Central Scouting questionnaire.

BU's Eichel talks Hobey Baker, NHL Draft build-up
By Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com Staff Writer

Boston University freshman Jack Eichel was determined from day one to not only be a success story, but one of the best college hockey players to ever play the game.

He's certainly on that path.

Eichel, the fourth-youngest player in college hockey and No. 2 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking of the top North American skates eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft, is expected to hear his name announced in short order on the opening day of the draft at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., on June 26.

Eichel, 18, recently took some time out of his busy schedule to answer five intriguing questions prior to the start of the 16-team NCAA ice hockey tournament that begins Friday. Boston University will play Yale University in the first round. The Frozen Four will be hosted by Hockey East at TD Garden in Boston, April 9-11.

When asked for his ambition outside of hockey in September 2014, Eichel wrote: "Be a good father someday."

McDavid, who submitted his questionnaire in September 2013, wrote: "I would like to be a lawyer if my hockey career does not work out."
McDavid:
Who is the NHL player your play would most likely be compared to: "Tyler Bozak because he is a good skater and is more of a pass-first type of guy."
 Another delusional Leafs fan pumping up their mediocre players

Eichel said Jeff Carter. Pretty strong comparison. Hanifin said Doughty, Crouse said Lucic, and Strome said Thornton, which is the best comparison for him imo.

Hmmm...do we want Jeff Carter or Tyler Bozak? Maybe we should be hoping to lose the lottery after all.
