Typically great article.... I guess that the optimist in me reads it and is fine that we have both Zboril and Lauzon, it's just they maybe should have been selected in the reverse order in the first place.

Some very honest info from Sweeney and some negative info from the scout on Zboril, but great on Lauzon. Too bad Lauzon's dealing with concussion issues already.

Yes it is. In the WC you can tell Lauzon has the goods and patrols the front with a bit of an edge

Looks like he got concussed at camp in October. He played in the WC,but still doesn't play in the Q?

how is Trent Frederic doing? Sounded like he was putting up a lot of points early in his season but I feel like I haven't been hearing much about him of late.

edit: sorry, didn't realize this was the 2015 picks thread.

Did you read the article?
Yes i did,
Go back and look at what was said about him at development camp, almost all positive
Look at what was said at main camp, almost all positive
This season in the Q vrs last season, mostly all positive, last year his point totals were off from the previous season because his roll had changed, now is mostly in the same roll he's getting those points, would you not consider that improvement?
He might not be our #1 defensive prospect but he's far from suspect

I think the article pointed out he's a flawed first rounder who the Bruins are continuing to work with regarding attitude. They also pointed out it was a helluva drop from the first 3 defensemen to him, that it would likely have taken the Bs all 3 first rounders to move up to grab one of them. If you don't come away with some big reservations about this pick after reading what Sweeney and the scout said, then you just refuse to believe it. All you talk about is points, and that's exactly the criticism they have about him.

Really good playmaker but doesn't go to the net, a perimeter player. The Bruins already have plenty of those types. The Bruins need forwards that get into dirty areas and can shoot. Senyshyn, DeBrusk and Gabrielle fit that bill.

Senyshyn is nearly 20 years old, playing junior hockey with kids 16 and 17 years old. And he's not even averaging a point a game. Sorry, but looks like another career AHL'er.

I know math is hard but 32 games 24 goals 11 assists for 35 points is actually more than a point per game as a 20 year old

There's a post earlier in the thread, if you care to find it, that breaks down the ages in the OHL and there are very few 16 year olds, most of the players are 18 and 19. He's hardly a man among boys out there :shakehead

I think it was something like 225 players were his age or older.

Zboril is the most likely of our first rounders to bust. Bad attitude and poor performance after being drafted. Doesn't really sound like a winning pick at this moment

Honest question, have you ever watched an OHL game live?

Yeah, and it was in response to someone else who made the same silly claim as this guy. Even if it were more tipped in the OHL towards the 16-17 year olds, it really wouldn't be as bad as they would claim. I am involved with coaching a fairly high level women's u20 soccer team- we play in a division that is u19 and some of our players and many we play against are 16 and 17. There just isn't that much difference. I know, different sport, different genders, but as a general principle, our 19 and 20 year old girls are hardly overpowering their 16 and 17 year-old opponents.

You do realize that CHL teams carry very few 16-17 year old, 16 year olds are few abs far between. Those that are there are usually pretty solid players, or they limited ice time. No certain but woul think most line ups are comprised of 18-20 years olds, probably to 90%.

Courtesy of Dom;

There are about 500 skaters (not goalies) that play somewhat regularly in the OHL.

44 are 16 turning 17

122 are 17 turning 18

334 are 18 turning 19 or 19 turning 20. (who play more regularly than the younger guys)

You make it sound like he's an old man playing against kids

The average growth for a male from 16-20 is 21 pounds and 1 1/2 inches.

Hmm, I missed out on that then. Damn, shouldn't have started smoking when I was a kid :D. Yeah, I know it's different, and women top out earlier physically in size, but even so, they do get stronger in those years as well. However, I think the point is still valid, if only that the difference isn't so vast that you're sticking Chara in there with a squirt team, like the poster was trying to imply about Senyshyn.

I also watch the statistical trajectory as they age. Is it flat? Is it trending up? With Senyshyn it is trending up? Good sign.
