Speculation: 2015 - 2016 New York Rangers Roster Building Thread Part XX

While you can't ignore the fact that Pittsburgh does have some very good forwards (albeit not nearly enough of them) any conversation about Pittsburgh has to eventually get to their back end, which is assuredly not one of the top 15 defenses in the NHL. I don't see them making the payoffs either. Prediction -- Mike Johnson gets whacked before Christmas.

1. We're on a Rangers board.
2. You're a Rangers fan.
3. The Rangers had more points last year than the Penguins.
4. The Rangers have knocked the Penguins out of the playoffs the last 2 years.

Why do you feel the need to say negative things about the Rangers and positive things about the Penguins?

At this point, I don't think it's a hockey issue, I think it's a psychological issue.

Objectivity? Not agreeing with him, but people are allowed to criticize the Rangers on here.

Although discussing the Penguins' off-season moves could probably be moved to the Around the NHL thread.

My point is that this being a board for Rangers fans doesn't mean people can't criticize them, or propose that other teams are better. Whether or not this is the right thread for that is a different matter, though.

They have three top 15 offensive talents in the entire league. A guaranteed 20 goal scorer in Hornqvist, a very gifted but streaky talent in David Perron, and a whole collection of good middle 6 players. Where are they lacking at forward? I don't see it.

They're not. What the Penguins offense does for their team the Rangers defense does for our team.

That's not my point at all. Nobody is sandbaging the Rangers while slobbering all over the Penguins like you just said they are. It's a team discussion. Who's going to sit here and just stroke the Rangers' perceived superiority all summer? There's other teams, and negatives, to discuss.

Crosby, Fehr, and Dupuis are really their only forwards who can really be relied on to defend top players. Their D doesn't get much help in that regard. That's probably the only major weakness I can see.

I'd agree if 50% of your posts were positive and 50% were negative.

But it's pretty much constantly at 95% negativity towards the Rangers.

Like I said, I don't think it's hockey related.
