A cap hit of $2.65 mil for one more year.

Then an UFA whose last contract had an annual cap hit of 5.75 per! And is going to almost be 30 and want a term because this will be his last big contract. Also--he is a left handed shot, so are you putting him on the right side?

All of that in addition to having to resign stepan/krieder/hagelin/hayes/miller/fast over the next two years.

Yes, I choose Yandle over Klein every single day of the week. They'll also have Boyle's contract off the books after next season, and if they need to, it'll be easier to move Staal or Girardi once their movement clauses change.

Being left-handed shouldn't be an issue. It's just a silly thing that AV insists on. Giordano-Brodie were one of the best pairings in the league this season, and they're both left-handed, and I'd love to see AV try Yandle-McDonagh together.

All other things equal I can agree with you on that. For sure.

But where is the money coming from for Stepan/Kreider/Hags/Hayes/Miller/Fast who all need to be resigned this year and next. Stepan alone will be in line for a $3mil/year raise.

U lose Dan Boyle and msl and the Nash a year after.. It's not that complicated. If it becomes too tight u trade staal or girardi

I've been saying yandle-mcdonagh since the rumors of the trades first came up

Silverfish, which shot-suppressing dman would you like to see them target as a Klein replacement?

I think if we can play Staal or Yandle on the right-side of that second pairing, we could package Klein to recoup prospects or get a forward in return instead for Klein.

When we got Yandle, AV sheltered him a bit. I think he's capable of handling tougher situations than what we saw. A full off-season and training camp with the team will certainly allow more trust between coach and player.

Yandle's usage since 07/08:

The bigger bubble all the way to the right is this season, NYR and ARI combined.

I think he could easily handle 4-7 relZone starts against good competition.

As far as good 'shot supressing' style D out there on the trade market... I really have no idea. It's a problem we *may* be able to fix in-house if we can use Yandle on the right. Playing Staal with a puck mover is always a good thing.

This season when Staal played with Klein, his CF% was 45.8%. When Staal played with Boyle, his CF% was 49.1%. To be fair to those numbers, though, Ozone starts are completely out of whack. Staal + Klein 37.4%. Staal + Boyle 55.2%. That just goes to show how ridiculously spread the minutes were between our D this season. Which continues to be one of my main focal points. Spreading the love a little better. Taking some of the pressure off of Girardi and applying it to Yandle or a new d-man if we need to go out and get one.

Salary cap.

Eye balling it alone, I don't think there would be an issue.

Could be wrong, though.

Foligno and Ritchie are cost controlled. McIlrath and Bourque don't cost anything. MSL, Glass, Klein, Talbot come off the books. Stepan goes on for $6. Hagelin for ~$3.

Don't feel like devoting all the time in the world to crunch every number on this.

lol yandle going no where. same for kk. leave this defense alone.

we've been salivating over yandle for years. now we have him in his prime and he's exactly what we need to generate some offense from the blue line. this season should be alot better for keith. he's going no where.

the defense is fine. really. too many silly proposals to blow the defense up. were fine. good righty lefty balance and when healthy, a nice mix of skaters and defenders. keep hunwick or mcilrath.

perhaps maybe the defense would look a little better if we had a few shooters and a pp that didnt suck.

blowing up a defense on thous team with the results we have had the last 2 seasons with mainly this same top 5 would be idiotic. results don't lie. we've been one of the top teams in the entire league for the last 2 seasons. period. look at the numbers people. were a strong defensive team. forget the shot suppression/corsi crap. the results are in black and white.

leave the d alone. ADD A SHOOTER. let msl retire. dump glass. dump shephard. add a new swede klingberg or lindberg and find a way to resign hags or move him with talbot for an nhl ready shooter. and hope zukey is healthy and healed.

and away we go.

How quickly do we think Nash is traded when Gorton assumes GM responsibilities?

He was a big part of trading Thornton from Boston, and Thornton not only has a similar regular season-post season performance to Nash, but he performs better than Nash too.

Do people still believe Gorton will be some kind of Nirvana to this team and take them in a totally new direction?

i really don't see trading nash as reality. as much as he is responsible for us failing in the playoffs, he was so dominant in the regular season, i just don't see the value in moving him for what would amount to cap space clearance at this point.

unless we are blown away with a no brainer offer you gotta keep him and hope that were more healthy and offensively balanced next year come spring. as long as we don't expect him to win playoff games by himself, were fine if we have 2 guys shooting pucks in place of an injured zuke and grampa26.

I highly doubt Groton would consider it, for all we know he played a big part in getting Nash here.

As if Gorton hasn't been involved with the construction of the current Rangers?

Seems like a different mindset. Nash seemed like a Sather move. Star.

Gorton traded his star to build around a new core.

Marcus Foligno & the #31 pick ? I'd consider it, I like Foligno's size on the Wing. There will be good players at #31.

I wish . I'd take foligno straight up

I think AV realizes w little cap space they need mcilrath , bourque , Lindberg to play
