I believe he can be called up in terms of emergency basis, which technically if Wier is out long term is this case. But we an extra D, so don't think he should be called up. We also have Kostka and Claesson in the AHL. I would call one of those guys up before Chabot. Let him play where he's supposed to be playing.

Boro, Claesson and kostka might be better right now but none of them will be around long term which is why I was asking.

I can not wait for Chabot. I think he will provide an element to this team that will hide a lot of deficiencies we may have in other areas of the game (like lack of true number 1 C for example)

I believe everyone when they say Chabot is the next biggest thing in Ottawa, but for some reason I'm just not excited by him. Still waiting for the next Spezza, I guess.

Me too, really hard to get one of those not in the top 5 in the draft. Best centre drafted outside of the top 5 in the past let's say 8 years is maybe Scheifle, and while he's good he's no prime spezza.

Brown is, quite literally, one of the most similar prospects to Spezza skill-set wise since Spezza was drafted. Eerily similar type players.

Agreed, Spezza is who I compare Brown to as well but with a less offence..

Except that Brown has 1/10th the skill, and is not nearly as good a skater as spezza, who actually has pretty good speed for his size.

Then you quite clearly can't remember Spezza as a prospect or know much about Brown as a prospect. Skating was a HUGE concern for Spezza, Brown is superior in that regard at the same point in their careers. Spezza was more skilled and had elite offensive I.Q, but saying Brown has 1/10 of his skill is misinformed, at best.

Spezza dominated Juniors the year after he was traded going 2PPG. He was on a whole other level than Brown. Brown might develop into a top line player but I think Spezza was a whole other caliber of prospect. Brown is projected to need a couple years in the AHL to season, while Spezza adjusted pretty quickly to the pro-level going PPG in the AHL and forcing his way into a lineup that was wary of playing teenagers.

If you're going to use a stat line to project players, Debrincat is a gem! Browns stats this season mean little to nothing to what I project him to be as a pro.

People who love Brown don't love him for his points as an 18 year old, they love him for his skill set (nearly identical to Spezza's) and what that skill set projects to as a 22 year old. Similar to Getzlaf, and those who were calling him a wasted pick because of his 2 seasons after being drafted.

Brown and Spezza have extremely similar skill sets, that chance Brown becomes Spezza is slim to none.

Brown is a better skater than Spezza was. Spezza worked hard to bring his skating up to where it is now.

Edit: Lools like Bondra already covered this. But I agree with him, Brown's skill set is pretty similar to Spezza's. Obviously Spezza was the better prospect, but in terms of what they bring, it's very similar.

Well from what I've watched. He doesn't really use this good skating of his. its like 90% sliding. Could just be the games I watched though. I saw like 2 games before he turned it on last year. But the this year. Back to it. People can blame it on the hand all they want.

But chabot. Love chabot. I think he's better than ceci by like 30 games into his pro career

Spezza was an uber prospect since he was 15 years old. Brown is not really comparable except in style.

Even though I'm pretty skeptical on white and brown. There's something about the trio of chabot white and brown that sounds right. I can't explain it.
