the shift is me saying. Sorry you’re right. I don’t mean literally no offensive talent. It’s me legit conceding that your first call out was correct and revising my statement

You claim I shifted and also claim I doubled down lol.
I can’t do both.

If anything I shifted to get you out of taking my first comment as some sort of fact.

I shifted to speaking literally and not using hyperbole anymore cuz that always seems to get you a little excited
Sure, that's a nice story.

That's why I said it's just one game.
Doesn’t matter. The seed of doubt is there and it’s probably in the players’ heads. It’s a lot easier said than done to get rid of those November scars.

Players are people too. When they don’t get results after following the process things can spiral out of control. Better turn this thing around fast. Vegas on Thursday is do-or-die as far as I’m concerned.

Around the bend
Good postgame interview by Green. Honest assessment. Don't think he is going to sugarcoat it to these guys. His evaluations will help management make some decisions on who will be shipped out if things spiral as well.

They’ve had opportunity this year to spiral out of control. And they didn’t. They stuck to their guns and played well. Green has shown an ability to get through to them. And they’ve played a particular way very consistently this year.

Well the good news is, thanks to the Bruins sucking, the Sens are still not out of the playoff race…the bad news is it’s becoming quite clear that this core just doesn’t have it.

This team lacks heart and conviction. You look like world beaters one night, then a rebuilding team the next.

They are going to have to move someone if they don't get this thing going.

Tonight was the first night that last year;s team showed up, and that is very discouraging

I don't get people saying we should trade Grieg. He just broke in the league and was good until recently which coincide been put in a spot he should not have. He is not a first line player and shouldn't play the right side. He is a center and if you are to put him on the wing, he should be on his strong side. Also, I don't know why we are not trying to switch the first two lines. I have said for a while I would like to see the Chuck-Norris-Bath line and Greig-Stu-G line. Play everyone on their strong side, spread the scoring, Stu can produce on his own and hopefully could get Greig and G going. I see a lot of people say we are missing talent to score, I don't see it... we either score in bunch or not much at all. 3rd line is fine as is with the return of Perron and 4th line only have Cousin that is a liability and should be removed.

On D, Zub has not been as good as we need him too and looks like Sandy is not 100% ... and yes the obvious one, we need better goaltending from Ullmark.

Goaltending can change A LOT
Finishing on just one extra chance can also change ALOT.

We created three break aways and some odd man rushes. We scored on NONE of them.

What did we give the oilers? I haven’t seen the numbers. But we didn’t exactly leak an enormous amount of chances. Ullmark didn’t have much to do. They definitely had their chances like all teams do and Ullmark made zero big saves. Zero.

I don’t know if it’s about heart. The good teams aren’t all heart all the time. Their systems keep them in the game when they’re off. Their system and their goalie.

Our system stays strong. Third least high danger shots against in the entire nhl.

Our goalie sucks ass.

Assuming we’re committed to Stützle - Norris - Pinto down the middle, what’s Greig’s future on this team?

He’s doesn’t have the offensive talent to be a top 6 winger, and he’s better suited as a 3rd line C than 3rd line LW.

He’s one of the only players we have that has value and is theoretically expendable… so of course if we want to upgrade somewhere, he’d naturally be the guy to move.

Personally I’d try Norris at LW or Pinto at RW in the top 6 and move Greig back down to 3C.

This is the lowest energy game I have been to in a long time.

There is zero atmosphere and it has been this way since the very beginning.

The Senators aren't helping but it isn't a sellout for sure and nobody seems to care a game is on.

Very weird.

Also F the Senators for this sad excuse for an effort. 1st shot goes in on a slow motion rush by Bouchard and then the typical quick goal against after Timmy scores.
The band in between periods was a mess too.

I agree that he is currently a better fit as a third line center and would be a good trading chip, but we finally have good centre depth after years of being depleted. Do you see Pinto has 3rd line centre for his entire career (stuck between Stu and Norris) and will we be able to pay him what he will deserve to play third line ? No question about Stu here, he is signed and his a a Stüperstar but not sure if Grieg is the one to trade moving forward with Pints and Norris situation.

The seed of doubt is there in YOUR head. You have no way of knowing what's in the players' head.

You have 7 years of baggage. The vast majority of the team does not.

We have Ostapchuk coming next year. I like having one extra C in the top 9 in case of injury, but if you have 2 you are probably better off moving someone, especially given the holes on our roster.

Norris is not tradeable.

So it’s really pinto or Greig

As long as our number one goaltender is underperforming, we're in a precarious position. The team may seem fragile, but that's because they're aware that any mistake could likely result in a goal against us.

I'd move Grieg for a dman if possible. He's not what people think.

At that price underperforming is a few magnitudes better than what he’s been.

Not much to like in that one. Forwards bobbling pucks and looking for fancy passing plays again. Stutzle is the only one that should be trying anything overly fancy offensively. Most of our shots towards the net as we have some zone possession either don’t get through or they are just moving aside and let the goalie see it. Not making it hard enough and not enough scrambling and battling for rebounds.

Regardless of that stuff the offense eventually sorts itself out when you are strong defensively. It wasn’t the case tonight. You need a shutdown line and commitment to full team D when up against a line with the likes of Draisaitle and McDavid or you get exposed badly. That’s what happened tonight.

Again, not a very strong performance by our goalie but still we allowed the Oilers way too much room and space in our end. I think Noodles pointed out that McEwen was the only forward finishing checks. Should have everyone playing physical and try and play more of a gritty game especially against a team playing 3rd game in four nights.
