If he looks too good, and acts too good.... What is the point of sending him down again? We just haven't had a blue chipper in a while, so we forget that these guys can often play in the NHL. Happens every year.

If he shows to be good enough for the NHL, and that means better than guys we have already to make the team, you keep him up.

I think he is our 4th or 5th best D now. But he might be better to dominate the Q and the world juniors this year. And he screws up having Cowen and Boro if he is better.

I understand both ideas. If I was coach and GM and he keeps being as good as he has been in camp... I would just keep him... But I am not GM or coach... They are smarter then me.

Personally I think he's in the running with Wideman as our third best guy this preseason (Methot hasn't played so doesn't count here). I'd go so far as to say that he has been FAR better than Cowen, and Boro, as for Weir, I haven't really seen him much so far.

That's not to say that I'm saying he should stay up, but should he continue to be better than our other guys, a serious discussion needs to happen.

If his preseason performance continues he should get his 9 games. If the 9 games show him to be as good, whoa nelly! He was a later riser and whats best for him could be continued increased competition to drive his continued rise...

Just saying, conventions either way aside, he'll be considered based on his own merit I hope.

EK was small and slight his first year, Chabot is already bigger, and clearly skilled. Remember, no one in their rights thought EK was going to be that good that soon. Is Chabot EK? No, but he was apparently our scouts primary choice so lets sit back and see, we could have another stud on our hands who needs the competition now...

See I agree. In fact... Seeing him with EK I think... Wow... Play him with EK. Imagine how much better a second pairing is with Methot - Ceci. Would make Ceci so much better. You then have an offensive guy on the third pair in Wiercioch and you don't need to go with a rookie in wideman. Or you just have a bunch of options in the 3rd pair

Or go Methot on the last pair and keep Wiercioch ceci together bcause they are pretty good. Methot and anyone is pretty darn good.

If Chabot can play with EK a lot them Methot makes any pair very good. We could actually get 3 pairings that can play 200 feet and not get stuckmin out zone a lot.

Or Chabot just makes the third pair better with whomever he plays with. Or Chabot and Ceci is boss.

If Chabot is for real..... He is the top 4 D we need. Now.

But maybe just let him develop. Mezaros seemed that guy and his rookie year was almost his best year. I want a great D for a decade most of all. But I also want to win now. Both could happen. Is Chabot ready?

The games haven't yet mattered enough to be able to say he is our 4th or 5th D. Push comes to shove in the last few pre season games and especially once he gets into a few regular season games, if that even happens. Rookies outplaying vets in the early games means nothing other than a good job so far for the rookie.

He'll have to be even better than he's been to make them think twice about sending him back. It's possible, but he hasn't shown it yet despite being very impressive.

He's done everything he could/should be doing. We'll see how he does when the competition stiffens. So far so good is all anyone can really claim.

Totally agreed... It just would be so nice to have an actual talented 2-way D. It will happen next year regardless I think.

I agree. I haven't been as excited and surprised over a prospect as I am with him in a while.... Really wish we could have seen White as well....

Give him the 9 games (or less) and send him down.

First of all, he isn't ready. Yes, it's great how amazing he has looked so far....but consider the competition (and the fact the NHLers have been going half-speed so far). These few preseason games have been incredibly sloppy, slow, and lacking intensity of any kind. Glorified shinny. This is nowhere near NHL-level hockey.

Secondly, the kid is still weak physically. He has height to lean on a few guys near the crease, but he has still been out-muscled a few times. It's not just a matter of being physically stronger....it's also about the probability of getting injured. With his lack of strength, there's a very good chance he could get one of those nagging injuries that lingers for a long time. Just look at how the injuries affected Cowen. Do we really want to risk doing the same thing to this kid?

Chabot is a wonderful, bright, shiny new toy, and I know we all want to have him on the team and sparkle. But he just isn't ready. We have to do what's best for his entire career. Make sure that he is fully developed.

Dont even bother with the 9 games. Cowen, Boro, and Wideman need to get going. Chabot knows that if he has a good season next year in juniors the Sens may have to make room for him

I agree with this. There isn't enough time for someone who realistically isn't ready.

Besides, if they end the chances now we're sure it ends on a high note.

Glad the sens made this decision.

I'm not sure you could have asked for a better scenario. He comes to camp, looks amazing (relative to him being an 18 year old rookie) and gains all kinds of confidence and some valuable NHL experience.

He's going back to junior and has a clear goal of hoping to make the World Junior Championships which should keep him focused and motivated.

Can't wait to watch him play this year when he comes to Hfx.

He'll be in the lineup this weekend if imagine

Too bad he won't play more games. He was so good. I think he's the real deal.

Pilgore, you know more about Chabot than any of us. How do you see his path to the NHL happening? Do you think he'll play in the AHL at some point or he could go straight to the NHL from juniors after this year or the next?

It's going to be interesting... if he improves this season and then has a solid development camp, and pre-season again he is going to make it very difficult for the team to send him back to junior again (I don't believe he is AHL eligible until 2017-2018).

That's a bummer. He might end up in similar situation to Lazar. Not 100% ready for the NHL but too good for CHL.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have too many Player A vs Player B on the boards happening. Let's not start any more.

Both kids are going to be great in their own ways.

 ok I know what you mean but as I was not starting a debate in that mold (Fisher vs Vermette, Puempel vs Prince), I hate them as well... I was more thinking both should be very good for this team but it's hard to tell which will have the most impact. I wonder if the difference will be big enough to make it clear...
