Those bonuses are probably 1.5-2.0m... so ~$66.5m with a ~71-72m cap... that is going to be awfully tight for them. Shaw alone probably takes ~$4m. Then losing Weise and Ladd takes 2 out of their current top 9. Flash would take another. The Hawks will still be a damn good team, but their makeup will certainly be different next year.

If general fanager is right, Panarin has already earned 1,287,500 in bonuses (including his games played bonus for this season). With a relatively decent chance at 1,725,000 more if he finishes in the top 10 forwards with any major scoring category (sitting 9th in points now). That extra 1.725m would really hurt the Hawks next season. Sitting around $67.5 would probably make signing Shaw very difficult.

love the player but that's a lot o money for a guy with little offense.

Pretty much. Shaw-Kruger-anybody 4th line is about as awesome as you can ask for, but holy bajeebus is that a lot of money to be paying them...even if the rumors about what Shaw's looking for are over-stating things.

Wings just lost to Cbj and haven't been doing well lately. Flyers are 2 pts behind with both having played the same games.

We have a playoff race boys! Stupid Wings, would've probably missed the playoffs if they were still in the west.

Watched the Nashville game tonight. Missed Opportunities #Forsberg

The Nashville commentators have to be the worst in the business though
People with sleeping difficulties should just put them two on and their problems could be fixed.

The way I look at it is if Avs make the playoffs that's fine, we'll see one round of Avs playoff hockey until they're kicked out of the 1st round by the Hawks. If they don't make the playoffs , Roy and Sakic will be mad enough to make some big changes for next year probably on defense. Either way I'm fine with it

I'm a big fan of Kruger's game and they owed him one.

Yup, he has taken discounts more than once and was promised this deal when he signed cheaply again this summer to help Hawks with their cap situation.

One of the best and smartest defensive centres in the league. Few know this, but there is offensive potential there too.

Don't really like these quotes from Drouin. Play out the season the in the AHL and then demand a trade to the Avs in the offseason. None of this trying to salvage the relationship stuff.

watching the press conference, it seemed me to like he was trained to say right things, instead of really meaning it. he kept repeating 'we'll have to wait till summer and see what happens' kind of quotes. i think he still wants out. he just feels like/is told that this is the faster way to get it done.

or i'm just reading him wrong. we'll see.

No doubt he is a great defensive center, but there really isn't much offense there. Yeah he is better than his 1 assist this year, but he isn't better than a mid 20 point guy. Offensively he is definitely below average for a 3rd line center.

A Hawk friend of mine doesn't like the deal very much... in his words "Kruger is like a post St Louis McClement... a great defensive player but one you really can't expect any offense out of. Over $3m per for that player is just too much."

From being the next big thing on the Habs blueline (at least in their fans' eyes), to being traded for an Allstar, to a 20-game PED suspension. This just hasn't been Tinordi's year.

Tippett said it was an ongoing situation before Tinordi was acquired. Tippett said as he understands, positive test happened before trade.

The process for testing, verification, review and all that takes time. It has to be done just so, to keep the union from throwing a fit every time someone pops. But you are right about ARI knowing...if they knew abotu the test, then it is on them (esp for wanting rid of Scott, though I think they were pushed into it). But I doubt they green light a trade for a guy they know has a big suspension coming.

Unless they knew and wanted the financial relief of not having to pay him....but doesn't money lost to suspension go to a fund, and the team still pays. Or is that only for on-ice infractions?
