Pretty sure that McCarron came through that "crappy development program" that your referring to, so nice try on the USA hockey snub.
lol. Toews played probably his most formative four years of hockey in the US, but I'm sure even that would get spun somehow on here.

You guys mind weighing in on points potential for the defensemen? For pool purposes of course :)
I'm thinking:
Hanifin
Werenski
McCoshen
That look about right? I have a hard time projecting the underagers.

I'm sure that Hayden not snubbing the crappy American development system for the most efficient league/team in producing NHLers didn't have to do with it :shakehead

Funny since one could make the argument that USA Hockey has passed Hockey Canada in its ability to develop, as I've seen even a few Canadians argue. At the very least not a single reasonable person would say USA Hockey's development system is crappy.

If DeAngelo makes the team, he's #1. McCoshen isn't a big point producer. Will Butcher had 5 points in 5 games at the WJC last year, so he should be up there also.

Do you have a specific question? Canada's unquestionably superior to the USA at producing players, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about development. I don't necessarily agree but, yes, I've seen many people make the argument that in recent years USA Hockey has surpassed Hockey Canada in developing the talent it has.

I'm sure people have argued it. I'm just not sure its accurate. No worries - we can agree to disagree.

Based on the forward lines being run at practice, I'd say the cuts are:

For Sure
Woods
Louis
De Leo

Bubble
McCarron
Cassels
Bracco

Buffalo native Miles Wood with a nice rush up the ice. Showing good speed in this practice and uses his size well.

Miles Wood with a great move around Anthony DeAngelo for a shot. Physical, and he can move. Wow, he's leaving a mark. #USAWJC

Nobles' Miles Wood definitely leaving an impression. Big boy, just left hit on Michigan's J.T. Compher in an offensive zone drill. #USAWJC

I think he's a long shot, but he has been turning some heads

Come Back To The Five and Dime Xokkeu

Hope he returns for the WJR's.

Who are the contenders for the C? Any chance for Compher?

Yeah I'd say Compher has a very good chance. If Santini is healthy I think he's for sure the captain, but Compher is my guy otherwise. I know young guys like Matthews and Bracco have specifically mentioned that Compher was helping them out and making them feel comfortable so that is great.

Seems necessary.

What's the latest on Santini on D. Will he be ready?

He's skated with the team in practice, but is in a yellow non-contact jersey. He hasn't used the wrist he injured at all. Basically been doing conditioning at center ice by himself and stickhandling/shooting with one hand on his stick. Not sure about his exact prognosis for the tournament.

[mod] Any knowledgeable, level-headed hockey fan knows the USNDP is a great program. [mod]

Really hope Santini is able to play, if so I'm hoping to see

Sonny Milano - Jack Eichel - Alex Tuch
Tyler Motte - Dylan Larkin - Hudson Fasching
Adam Erne - Auston Matthews - Nick Schmaltz
John Hayden - Cole Cassels - JT Compher
Michael McCarron
Jeremy Bracco

Ian McCoshen - Noah Hanifin
Zach Werenski - Steve Santini
Michael Downing - Anthony DeAngelo
Ryan Collins

Thatcher Demko
Alex Nedeljkovic

Butcher is in the lineup but listed as a scratch as well. I imagine he's playing and Santini is the one who should be listed as a scratch.
