Why no Anthony Louis in any of these mockups? u guys ever see him play? it's Patrick Kane Lite version lol

Same reason you don't see Cammarata on any of these rosters. They're both midgets that are basically offense-only players. The US has players that can score just as well as them that are bigger and better without the puck on their stick. He's also behind Eichel, Matthews, Larkin, and Compher at center.

I have been out of the loop the last several days. There was talk of the suspension to Cole Cassels possibly being reduced when he was named to Team USA, after Team Canada declined to do so (the suspension being one of the reasons).

Any news on that, and if the suspension does not get reduced, does Team USA still name him to the team knowing he will miss the first two games?

Cassels is a terrific player, probably too good to leave off.
First two USA games are vs Finland and Germany. Should have no problems with Germany, anyway, but USA could use him against Finland.

I caught the Sarnia game last night and DeAngelo could be a real adventure if he makes this team. He's obviously an offensive catalyst but he was mediocre in his own end, took bad penalties and seemed like he was on the verge of losing his mind at various points in the game. If he plays a game like this during the tournament...

I normally agree, but look at this camp roster and how much CHL kids are there. Anthony DeAngelo is there for the love of God!! Many thought he would get screwed again. Two out of three goalies are CHL kids, and Cole Cassels comes along for the ride where some people said he wouldnt even represent the US...so yeah I am bummed that Bailey isn't here, but this roster for the first time in a while I have zero gripes with.
I just feel a top 15 OHL scorerer should be an auto-lock for CAMP. Instead of a 19 year old prep player, YA know? Cassels is lighting it up, and DeAngelo is too goo to not have again.

Team should be fine though

A look at Eichel's last game of the semester at BU (two assists), and the most accurate NHL comparison I can make. Hint: It's a combination of two Pacific Division stars.

Looking back at Eichel’s first 18 games in a BU uniform, the impact he has made on this team is remarkable. He is the biggest reason that BU went from winning 11 games all of last year to winning 11 in their first 16 games this year. His line has scored 28 goals this season, which is 52% of BU’s total offense. Eichel’s line has been the team, and Eichel makes his line tick.

Hanifin could be in the NHL (although personally I would not rush him), but if he isn't. :amazed:

Hanifin-Werenski
Krys-Carlo
Belpedio-Dougherty

Look out.

I think putting Krys there in 1 year is a stretch. His game is just not strong enough to play against best 19 years olds. He struggles defensively in the USHL.

Tournament is too short for him to be a distraction. Take the skill and the attitude...

Lines so far at camp (per Mike Morreale):

Larkin-Fasching-Milano
Compher-Erne-Cassels
Tuch-Eichel-Motte
Matthews-Schmaltz-Hayden

Looking forward to my Sonny Milano av in advance

I'm looking forward to this team in general. I think a lot of people are sleeping on the offensive firepower we have this go around. Granted, it has to come together but there is a lot to like. Seems to be a a character group as well (mostly).

Cassels suspension has been reduced to 8 games. I forget where i heard it but it was announced.

Of course. That was just what he tweeted.

He responded to someone that the lines he tweeted weren't by position. Morreale's always been a sloppy reporter so I wasn't surprised by that.

Yeah, those are right in terms of who was on the line but not positions. I was at camp today, and just finished my writeup:

http://thehockeywriters.com/usa-wjc-camp-day-1-report/

These are the lines and pairings I saw:

Tyler Motte-Jack Eichel-Alex Tuch
Sonny Milano-Dylan Larkin-Hudson Fasching
John Hayden-Auston Matthews-Nick Schmaltz
Adam Erne-Cole Cassels-JT Compher
Anthony Louis-Chase De Leo-Jeremy Bracco
Miles Wood, Michael McCarron

Noah Hanifin-Zach Werenski
Michael Downing-Ryan Collins
Ian McCoshen-Anthony DeAngelo

I'm not sure what the configuration of Butcher, Carlo, and Dougherty was. Santini was on the ice but in a yellow non-contact jersey. All he did was conditioning work, and stickhandling with one hand. His bad hand/wrist might not have touched his stick all day.

Thanks for the report. I agree with your take on the Erne-Cassels-Compher line. I think those three will all make it and likely play together.

Thanks for this. Cassels is a lock to Team USA now. I actually was hoping he would get invited to Canada's camp, but they passed on him. I love the way he has played this year.
