Headed off to Canada to wear the Red White and Blue and represent this great country! #GoingForGold #USA

I'm not sure if this is WJC related or not? Or is there another tournament that I'm not aware of?

I don't remember Tyler Myers or Alex Galchenyuk every playing for other countries.

Why would Galchenyuk even contemplate playing for Belarus?

His father was from Belarus. Not Russia.

People forget that. If he had Russian citizenship, the USA may not have Galchenyuk on their team.

Note: I know he is listed as having Russian citizenship on EP.com but I don't believe that is likely. Both his parents are from Belarus and his father represented Belarus several times in international hockey. Alex lived in Russia but he's spent as much/more time in the US, Belarus, Italy and Germany than in Russia, it seems from his fathers hockey career. I don't think there's any solid proof that he has Russian citizenship.

Is McCarron a lock to be on the team or could he find his way off the team?

I'd say he is optimistically 50/50 at this point. A lot of talent on this team. His size and grinding/mucking ability improve his odds however because he can slide into a bottom 6/bottom line role.

Alex has always been a dual citizen and could have played for Russia if he wanted. He actually gave up his Russian passport though after he had already represented Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka.

Alex Galchenyuk, who was born in Milwaukee but had dual U.S/Russian citizenship, said on Friday at the draft combine he no longer possesses a Russian passport.

He repeated either his junior or sophomore year when he first arrived at Nobles. He was going to accelerate to attend Brown this year but then switched to next season when he committed to Boston College. I don't know much about the particulars.

How is Miles Wood playing high school hockey at 19 years old?

I'd have him at 50/50 too. Lots of good guys for the potential 4th line so I'm not worried about the selections there. It's the top-9 I'm worried about.

Milano- Eichel- Tuch
Erne- Matthews- Schmaltz
Larkin- Compher- Fasching
Motte- Cassels- McCarron
De Leo

I'd love to find a way to fit Jeremy Bracco onto this team, but I feel like they'll go a different route.

McCoshen- Santini
Butcher- Hanifin
Downing- Collins
DeAngelo

I'd love to see Werenski make the team, but I feel like they'll go with the older guy in DeAngelo for the last spot.

Demko
Nedeljkovic

Halverson is deserving as well, but I feel like Demko and Nedeljkovic are the better options between the pipes.

I really like those lines/pairings, other than the lack of Werenski. ;)
I honestly have a hard time seeing Deangelo on the team with his past off-ice issues, unless he's done a lot of maturing recently and shows it. It's too short of a tournament to risk bringing along a guy who could be a distraction in the lockerroom.

Baileys having a decent season with the Rangers, plus hes 19. Anybody know what happened there?

He fell off USA's radar last year and just didn't do quite enough to play himself back into consideration. In a different year, he might've gotten an invite, but the there's a lot of really good forwards vying for spots this year.

Just my opinion, but I think if they were concerned about Deangelo's off-ice behavior, they wouldn't have invited him to the camp. Getting an invite was a big hurdle for him.

Wouldn't a line of Bracco, Milano, and Eichel be exciting to watch. They always seem to have so much chemistry whenever I've seen them play together. Any thoughts?

Very true also due to Milano and bracco growing up playing with each other on teams when they were very young and Eichel being Eichel

I feel similarly. As long as he performs up to his standards in camp, I like his chances. And he brings a skillset no one else on our D can.

Any eligible players that won't be there due to playing in the pros?

For those familiar with the tournament, are college players loaned to the teams for the entirety of the tournament?

I want to see Eichel at BU and they have a couple games in early January. This is the same time period as the WJC finals. Obviously the US would need to make it, but I don't want to go to a BU game if he isn't playing.

Yes. If Team USA bows out of the tournament in the quarterfinals on Jan. 2, Eichel could always travel and play in the NBCSN game the next night vs Union, but rather than play his sixth game in eight days, it's also possible he'd be given a rest day there. Following that, there are multiple days between WJC semifinal and medal games (Jan. 4-5) and BU's games the next weekend (Jan. 9-10), so the Wisconsin games and thereafter shouldn't be an issue.

Why no Anthony Louis in any of these mockups? u guys ever see him play? it's Patrick Kane Lite version lol
