Who gave up on him?

Those that were disappointed by his D+! performance as they should have been?

Once it was known that he had mono then his poor performance was given some context.
you need to go to his thread on canucks board in his D+1 year. Many advocated to cut bait early while he still has value and trade him away even after his mono diagnosis is common knowledge. Its what happens in msg boards like these, we are all armchair GMs. Thank goodness Allvin doesnt make rash decisions.

I'm a Canucks fan and go on our boards alot but like I said most of the fans were saying this before they found out about the mono as I was one of them and his D+1 year was disappointing and sure some people have the patience of a toddler.

I'm a bit disappointed that it's pronounced "Lekker-Mackie" and not "Lehcarey-Maki".

The Canucks recalled him to play last night...and played him 10 minutes. Rick Tocchet can not be trusted with pure skill guys who are either very young or have flaws in their game.

I think that's a bit overblown. The Canucks are battling for a playoff spot and Tocchet is trying to squeeze any win he can get out of his team without his best player in the lineup. I have no problem with a kid needing to earn his coaches trust before logging big minutes in these situations.

Feels a bit silly calling that a must win game, but that's pretty much what it was. It's good that he got into the game at all, got the call-up I mean. Kid looks to have a bright future.

No pp and no pk. 11 minutes at evens is decent for a young guy learning the game on a club with expectations of players all playing the right way and winning.

These are mostly assessment callups for Lekkerimaki. And thus far this year he has shown tremendous growth in his game. It's been an excellent 6 months for him. Not worried about 10 minutes as he's getting played in situations that suit his strengths (PP time).

He had 2:24 of PP time. 15 total shifts which is fine. As with most young players he's going to make sure his shifts are 40-45 seconds and no longer (shifts ranged from 21 secs to 62 seconds). As everyone gets more comfortable the shifts will extend a bit and he'll get 17-18. There isn't much of a difference between 10 minutes and 13 min when it comes down to it for a forward.
