Cassels is the best two way player in the OHL this season. He should be a lock for the team if his suspension is lessened. Even if its 3rd or 4th line.

Totally agree, if his suspension is reduced, he should be considered a lock, and I bet in the management's eyes he will be a lock. Even if he had to sit out the first two games I'd still bring him along.

I reckon by the end of the tournament if he does make the team, will end up playing top six minutes and PP time, as well as PK time. He can do it all.

Could someone provide any additional info about John Hayden and Miles Wood?

What are the chances they break camp with the team? I don't know much about these prospects at all. Any info at all would be great!

This link has info on Hayden, Schmaltz and Louis from Blackhawks prospect camp this past summer. Hayden was the standout there and he was on a line in scrimmages with Louis and Schmaltz.

If I'm reading that correctly, that timeline was different this year. Remember that Domi only missed the first 2 games while McCarron missed the first 6 games nursing the shoulder injury sustained in the MTL/BOS preseason game.

Rest of your post is bang on though. He's had a tremendous transformation from last year (even last summer!).

While McCarron has centred Domi in each game he's dressed for, he's also producing monster numbers without a legitimate 1RW on that line (Marner plays 2nd line), and has made great strides in PK'ing.

Now that I re-read what I typed, I don't know what I was going for. I think I was confusing last year and this year, or something.

Seems you watch him fully or catch him more than I can.

From what I've read he's been very good on faceoffs to the point he's almost dominant. For his size, he's got speed, but his skating style looks awkward. He's not easy to move. His release seems to be really good.

Just to give an idea how unmovable he can be.

I hope he makes it. These tournaments are always the most physical and he should be at the pinnacle of that.

I got tickets to Finland vs USA.

Should be a great game. Couldn't stay too long and wanted to make sure I'd be at USA-Canada, otherwise I would have loved to gone to that. Second best game of our prelim round clearly.

This lineup makes me salivate.

Milano - Eichel - Bracco
Compher - Matthews - Schmaltz
Erne - Larkin - Fasching
Hayden - Cassels - McCarron
Motte

Schmaltz or Tuch, Cant decide who fits better there. Either way, have fun dealing with those lines.

I have a ticket package for group B but my parents have a ticket package for group A, so here's hoping I can sway one of them to trade. Really want to watch a US game more than a Canadian game at this point. :dunno:

Your roster is virtually identical to mine. However- my question mark is Cassels. If he has to miss the first two games because of his suspension- i am not sure if USA Hockey would still pick him?

I would still pick Cassels, but i am not sure if other posters would agree. In the end, it is up to USA Hockey. They still invited him to camp when Canada declined an invite to him, so i think they might just roll the dice and let him miss the first two games and name him on the team.

There is no way Tuch is not on the roster.

True enough. In the grand scheme of things, I can see them still bringing him. Dat 2 way play.

Oh no I totally agree, Ideally i'd like to see them both battle for the spot all tourny long but that cant happen(?).

Either way, really shaping up to be a nice squad. Defence I like as well. Do people feel comfortable with the goaltending?

Alot are excited about this team but I have a feeling it won't go as fell as it seems it will. Obviously there is skill there, Matthews being considered a top pick for 2016, Eichel a #2 in this draft coming up, Hanifin looks like he might be a #3, Bracco might not even be a 1st rounder and he's small. Werenski is an underager.

It has alot of skill and big names but it's still a young team and well young teams don't typically do well. The scoring will most likely be relied on from the 17 and 18 year olds instead of say Compher, Fasching, Erne and some other 19 year olds that might make the team like Motte, Cassels, De Leo, McCarron or Hayden.

errr I have seen this from you a few times.

everyone is entitled to an opinion and this is an open board, but in all honesty you should just stick to team Canada threads instead of coming in here.

we all understand how this can go and has gone in the past, so you are not stating anything new to any of the followers of USA Hockey.

I think guys like Fasching and Erne should be counted on and will contribute for them, offensively and defensively.

How dare those Americans be positive about their roster?

I'm just saying that the 19 year olds should be higher in the line-up and more higher roles because typically 17-18 year old players don't do that well in what is called a 19 year old tournament.

Except that Eichel was the lone bright spot on a tire fire last year. Except that Jones backstopped the team to a gold medal. Except Trouba was amazing in his underage year.

The American underagers were not invited for shiggles. I firmly expect Matthews to have a similar impact as Eichel did last year. It would not surprise me if Hanifin performed like Jones. Carlo doesn't have a chance on this team, but Bracco and Werenski have torched NCAA teams full of older players for two years now.

Sue us for being excited about them. Maybe they'll let us down, but why should we spend time thinking about it? In addition to the special underagers, we have a ton of skilled 18 year olds. We have depth. There is three times as much talent on this team than last year when a banged up Danny O'Regan was our de facto #1C. Sue us for being excited.

Don't know much about the team USA roster but Anthony Louis Nick Schmaltz and Hayden have a lot of chemistry coming out of Chicago preseason camps. To the point that they were doing features on how and why they play so well together. Apparently played together coming up in AAA

I have no clue what you're trying to get at with the sue us stuff but all I am saying is that young players don't typically do well in this tournament, USA has a couple of those they are relying on. Canada's forward group last year was basically 17 and 18 year olds, they didn't win a medal.

Ray, you don't know what you are talking about most of the time. Sweden in 2012 had 9 underagers, 7 18 year old players and 2 17 year old players. And who took the prize that year? Give it a rest already. Your analysis of Team Canada is generally off the mark and now you are branching out to TUSA... and again off the mark...but we'll see. How about you give us your take on the Finns? not that it would be all that insightful.
