Right now I'm thinking this:
Milano - Eichel - Tuch
Erne - Matthews - Schmaltz
Compher - Larkin - Fasching
Motte - De Leo - Hayden
Extra: McCarron or Cassels or Bracco
My fourth line and the #1LW spot are the most trouble so far.
XXXX-Eichel-Tuch
Schmaltz-Matthews-XXXX
XXXX-Larkin-Fasching
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
XXXX
I can't decide if I want Milano on Eichel and Tuch's line, or if Motte should go there given his performance in camp, and put Milano elsewhere, either on Matthews' line or Larkin's line. And as I said, I'm still not sure where to put Compher: on Larkin's wing or as #4C. I love the idea of Eichel-Matthews-Larkin-Compher down the middle, because that could match up with any team in the tournament. But I also love the idea of a Compher-Larkin-Fasching shutdown third line that can also score a lot, and I worry Compher would be wasted on the 4th line and not get enough TOI.
I'm also very torn on Bracco. If he were to squeeze on the roster, it would have to be in a scoring role (although he is an excellent PKer). If Tuch could play LW, then Tuch-Eichel-Bracco could be excellent, which would push everyone down the depth chart. We know Bracco and Eichel have chemistry, and Bracco is sort of similar to Milano stylistically. He's also scored well on the U18 team against older NCAA and USHL. But the question on Bracco is obviously his size, so I'm not sure if he'll be a real consideration.
Milano-Eichel-Tuch
Schmaltz-Matthews-Erne
Compher-Larkin-Fasching
Hayden-McCarron-Cassels
Motte
That would be similar to yours, or we could do:
Tuch-Eichel-Bracco
Schmaltz-Matthews-Erne
Milano-Larkin-Fasching
Hayden-Compher-McCarron
Cassels
Or sub Motte in for Bracco on the top line.
All I'm sure of is that the first three lines should have the Eichel-Tuch pairing, the Schmaltz-Matthews pairing, and the Larkin-Fasching pairing.
