Really awful game today. This is pretty much the way it goes at this tournament for US teams though. Get a win against a team they should lose to and follow it up by losing to a team they should beat. I won't be surprised in the least if they lose points in at least one of the final three games and make a quick quarterfinal exit. I hate this damn tournament.

Haha I feel you:laugh:

I still think they'll finish first. The only real test left is against Slovakia in their last game on Tuesday. They own the tiebreaker against Finland and Russia.

any rumor/news on the last forward joining the team?

seriously, even though it might sound weird since even I had never heard of Steve Moses before, but without him (who might be the best forward of this team on the big ice) this team is toast

Things this team really needs to improve on:

  1. Powerplay. It's been atrocious.
  2. Defensive decision making. I know it's hard to "unprogram" but this isn't NHL ice and you can't stand up at the blue line nearly as much as the team's d-men have done so far. It's too easy to chip the puck around a player standing up to lead to an odd-man rush.
  3. Ties into the defensive decision making but can we pay attention to the cherry pickers? That's all Belarus did all game and it's all Oliver Bjorkstrand did today. It's not that hard to defend but you sure would think so watching us allow them to be succesful at it over and over again.

The offense is always going to be hit-or-miss. Oh, and Campbell better not see the net again. This isn't 2010.

I would love to see Johnny playing for the US, rubbing rabbits foot for the Ducks to finish Calgary off. The fact remains, though, since Moses went down the offense has struggled.

Charlie Coyle from @mnwild added to U.S. Men's National Team. #IIHFWorlds

Not that all-word offensive talent we need but the only realistic targets we had that would play are either likely not going to be available at all (Tyler Johnson) or wouldn't get here until the quarterfinal at the earliest (Johnny Gaudreau).

Coyle is a good add all things considered.

How has Hellebuyck looked? Obviously us Jets fans are extremely impressed with his development, but I haven't had time to catch any of the games. Just curious how he's looked.

Steady.

I think you could make a case for him being our best player so far, come to think of it.

Also, he looks like Chris Kreider

He has a .973 SV% with a .067 GAA.

His concentration level on tipped shots has been stellar.

"Charlie Coyle from the Minnesota Wild arrived in Ostrava last night and will be in the lineup today. Steve Moses continues to be out with a lower body injury and is listed as day-to-day."

Would've been awesome to get Pominville or Parise, but seeing as basically every over 25 big name US player has passed, not too surprising it's Coyle

Either Richards and Bylsma think that these defensive lapses, allowing long stretch passes will work themselves out or they don't know how to adjust coaching wise. Either way the better teams are going to exploit this.

I'm not sure how the rosters work, but is there any chance that we could still add Gaudreau? We could really use a skilled winger like him, would think he'd look pretty good on Eichel's wing. . .
