Still it doesn't matter how you twist it. Lets take a look who's on the rosters then. Look who's on the Canadian roster and on the Swedish and tell me that we will get gold. That's is what it is about: gold.

We don't have the same depth so our players (if I dare to call them "ours" anymore) must man up to win the duel situation.

If you read my posts you would notice that I've written that Canada and Russias rosters are better. But again, the final is just one game. I'm not saying Sweden WILL get gold, I'm saying they CAN.

Sweden had the Sedin's a couple of years ago, but they also had freaking Henrik Tallinder as the #1 defenseman and still won gold. Tallinder was Buffalo's #6/7 defenseman at the time.

The best roster doesn't always win. If that was the case we wouldn't need any games and we could just hand the gold medal to Canada every year.

Like i said before... other nations topplayers see it like an honor to go to play for their national team... just look at Russia and Canada if their best player is avaible they for sure will join the team even if its a tournament like WC... while the Swedish players to often blame "injuries"

You're wrong. Canada usually doesn't get their best players.

And you don't think Canada is overrated:laugh:

I still think Russian has the best players in the world... if they could get them to play like a team and not like overpaid primadonnas.

I have never seen Zlatan "if he ofc is not really injuried" have refused to represent the Swedish national Football team... and there is even more money involved... to play som ****** friend game.

I agree with Russian players, they always come to help if they are able to come, they are exception who almost never refuse, barring some serious injury. But I disagree about Canadian players, they have a lot of top players who refused an invitation, mainly because they don't care about WHC. Same goes for USA. Canada have ridiculous depth so they always look very good. This year with exception of players like Crosby, Giroux or Seguin who came to play at WHC quite surprisingly.

Maybe because moste of them are in SC at the time... but look now when Pitsburgh is out Crosby right away... flew over

Yes, but it was a BIG surprise, nobody expected it. It doesn't change anything about the fact that most of Canadian top players refuse to play at whc every year.

A) Soccer World Cup isn't played every year.

B) World Cup doesn't collide with French league soccer.

C) Soccer season isn't 82 games plus playoffs.

In ice hockey, the Stanley Cup and the Olympics are biggest things you can win. The World Championship doesn't come remotely close. The IIHF could make it more interesting, but as long as they make profit they're probably never gonna make any big changes.

If the World Championship was played every 4th year, the best players would come if they were healthy.

Right now it's too easy to win. Rick Nash could have won four WC gold medals, on top of his two Olympic golds, before his 27th birthday. That's the problem. In soccer you would be lucky just to play in multiple World Cups.

But where is their best D (Doughty) and where is the highest scorer in the NHL (Benn)? Where is Tavares, Bergeron, Quick and Pietrangelo?

and when was the last time he flew over? yes 2006  I'm 99% sure that swedish players respect the tournament more than canadian players

Canada vs Russia is a different topic. My point was that the best roster doesn't always win.

The WC final is just one game. Heck, if France was in the final they could win. It wouldn't be likely but the chance exists. All you need to win ONE SINGLE game is a goalie standing on his head, a good powerplay and some lucky bounces. This is why we see upsets all the time. Now, of course France isn't gonna win, because they won't have that kind of luck in three straight elimination rounds.

Sweden has a good enough team to beat Canada or Russia in just one single final game.

I'm done.

Point stands, we have a B-team and that will not suffice given the duel situation. Sure anything can happen, but that would be a upset with us coming out on top. We are for sure not "smelling gold" this year.

Wouldent call this team our B-team tbh...

Its obvious that Canada have some players that are more willing to play the WHC then others. Rick Nash, Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley were/is WHC friendly, while numerous others are not. Some just likes to do it once, others hardly at all. They have so many good players that it might feel like most are willing to play the WHC, when in reality only some are. But its enough.

1. Hope for Zetterberg and Kronwall - Ericsson

or

2. Be happy if Järnkrok, Nyquist and Gunnarsson arrives?

Zetterberg is done with the Swedish national team just my 5cent! can allways hope for Kronwall to KRONWALL some canadians:naughty:

STOP taking about Russia and North America!

Everyone knows that when teams start to lose and the main arena is deserted more than not there is always Finland and Sweden and someone else. Kontiola and Lindström will lead the scoring together with Colin Wilson and a lost superstar like Gaborik, Kopitar, Thoresen or Crosby etc!

Nah, they just don't have the depth anymore. Russia has maybe a half-dozen top-notch forwards, lousy defence and one all-star goalie.

Combine Canada and Russia into a single team. How many Russians would make that squad? Ovie, Malkin, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk and Bobrovsky. Who else?

The 2010 WHC was a great example of this. The Czechs were no where near as good as Russia that year. If they play ten times Russia probably wins eight. Yet in a one-game final Vokoun made the difference.

Football season is way longer than hockey one. And football takes way more stamina than hockey.

As expected Kronwall declines, and Ericsson apparently.
