1.1 spot left

2.yes, as per team officials the spot is for Ovechkin, while pretty much everybody here would prefer them to do what is right for the team.

I'm hoping that you don't get Ovi for the WC but not for the reasons you may think. For some reason I am pulling for Ovi in the playoffs. I have never done that before. I guess because I am Canadian, I dont know. I would love to see Ovi get a Stanley Cup.

It is Kulemin who has to be changed though I'm afraid it's too late (last game before qf). Mozyakin in NT played with Tereshenko and Petrov before that WC. Completely different players, playing absolutely different hockey, no chemistry at all.

Kulemin needs to be moved off that line too, definitely. They are just not working well together as a unit.

I'm Canadian, and I've always been a huge fan of Ovie, and I dislike Crosby. Russian hockey players tend to be more exciting to watch, and Ovie's no exception for me. Put Ovie on that Pens team with Malkin, Staal, Letang, etc and I think he would have a cup by now as well.

I don't care a lick about who wins the WC, but I will watch some games, so sometimes I'll root for Russia, even over Canada.

Everyone more or less agreed before the start that this Russian team lacked sufficient defense to go far in this tournament, and we were a bit unlucky with injuries eliminating several good players that would have helped. Adding Malkin and Tarasenko wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. I have a hard time envisioning this team beating Sweden, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Poor performance, against a mediocre team. Second game in a row.

Poor coaching leads to poor on-ice results. Znarok has no idea what he's doing, he has lost all the big games so far.

Well Russia team is unlucky this year. CSKA players sabotaged WC, Zaripov is injured, and lack of defence men.

Agreed, but even after all that, we still have very good goaltending and an elite forward group. We have a better roster than Finland/Slovakia/USA, but they all dominated play against us for long stretches.

So far in the round robin, all the facts point to a coaching failure. Maybe Znaroks will manage to get his head out of his ass in time. It's not too late yet, but it's getting there.

Radulov, Denisov, Zaitzev and Grirorenko did not come. Yes they have excuses. But there were rumors that was decision of CSKA's top management

There were rumors Salavat Yulaev was behind the 3rd shooter in Dallas.:sarcasm:

You are being absurd. CSKA players were at the national team camp and were checked by Konov personally. Is Konov a secret CSKA agent now?

the rumor about CSKA is being discussed within hockey fans. Though sometimes both groups of people look crazy, the rumors spread by hockey fans tend to be confirmed.

I count 14 forwards on Russia already.

How are they fitting in Ovechkin? Can they have 15 forwards and 7 defencemen?

It's 25 players, 22 skaters+3goalies per IIHF regulations. You can have 16 forwards and 6 defencemen if you please.

Don't break a decent conspiracy theory with your out-of-fashion common sense :sarcasm:

In case when the team with the probably best roster in KHL cannot send a single palyer it really looks like a groundless conspiracy story. It becomes more absurd if you know that Sashka Radulov is the laziest player and just simlpy doesn't want to play for NT

CSKA sent to NT Radulov, Zaitsev, Grigorenko and Denisov, they did report to NT camp, but were sent home by NT doctor. I can see two realistic possibilities for CSKA management to be involved in this: 1. they gave some money to NT doctor; 2. After a dissapointing loss to SKA, Sergey Fedorov broke some sticks against those guys and injured them.

and physical check is based on lab tests only :sarcasm:

Medvedev is out for the rest of the tournament.

This is consistent with the kind of luck Russia has had with injuries this year. Sometimes you have good luck, and sometimes you just run out of luck, and this year Russia is finding new ways to have bad luck. I was really critical of Medvedev because of the pivotal role that his bonehead plays had in the loss to the USA, but with the defense so badly depleted as it is, and Medvedev being one of only 2 good skaters on the blue line (Belov is the other), the only thing that could make it worse is if Robban tells us that Belov is out for the rest of the tournament as well. Robban, please don't tell us that!
