WC: 2015 — Team Russia

guys, I know were saving a spot for Ovechkin but isnt it kinda late now? I mean, theres a huge chance that were out in about 18 hours from now and even if he decides to take a cab straight to the airport after an eventual loss (1-1 in the game after 2 periods now) he will Barry even make it to the start of the warmup, and thats without sleeping.
By waiting for him this long we could perhaps have thrown our chances away by not inviting someone else that is available...

I am a fan of Ovechkin's and i honestly feel terrible for him. He gave it his all, but yet again the Caps cannot advance past the second round and lost the series when ahead 3-1 (SMH). Ovechkin should be a good addition for the Semis if Russia gets past Sweden.

Interesting, there is place for Ovi only in fourth line of NT

That contradicts IIHF's desperate attempts to raise the worth of the tournament so it won't happen.

We actually need to break the NHL arrogance somehow to have a real world championship with all players available. It might be once in 2 years too. I'd have no problem with that.

Whoever makes those decisions on the NT should give his head a serious shake. A team suffering from lack of good (and healthy) defencemen invites another winger. Even if it's Ovechkin...

There are other guys out there in a Capitals uniform beside Ovechkin. Why does he have to carry the load all by himself? Why are we forgiving Crosby for getting bounced in the first round again. By that standard, isn't Crosby overrated?
 
There are two scenarios. IMO.

They will try him again with Malkin, he will replace Kuli.

Or move one of Tarasenko/Kovy to Malkin (instead of Kuli, again), and play Ovechkin with Anisimov.
 
I'm guessing they won't invite Ovechkin. He couldn't get there before the Semifinals, if Russia is still alive at that time. I agree with Atas. Is there room for 2 defensemen under the rules? If so, adding Yemelin and Markov would be a huge bolster to the defense.
 
I am so excited for this game. I hope it lives up to the hype. This could easily be a gold medal game. It's too bad you had to meet in the quarters. Go Russia!

When I was watching the Team Canada game today, they said Ovechkin is coming if they win against Sweden. I'm a little confused. Why can't he get there before the semis?

Probably because he can't fly from Eastern US to Czech in time to be game fit in a few hours (even though he just played lights outlast night)

No one's saying it's only Ovechkin out there, but let's face it: no one else on that team will be remembered for not getting beyond the second round. He's the face of the franchise after all.

Granted, Crosby and the Pens have certainly underachived in the post-season as well lately but at least there was the Cup in 2009.

Actually this is the first game D actually deserved some praise - young guys fought well there. :) Who would've thought that all we need is to get rid of Medvedev. :sarcasm:

And also 4-th line really did their job great, so many battles won by Plotnikov and Tikhonov, I guess it might be actually a good idea to reunite them with Ovechkin.
