Well in Kärpät PP Donskoi-Kemppainen played together succesfully, yes? And you didn't read my entire post. I said that is how in my opinion we can get most out of our line up. I can make entirely different line up for what I think is realistic.

I think Barkov, Hietanen and Lepistö can deliver the puck. Besides we can very often get face offs in the offensive end anyways...

It's quite good but he wont separate J.Jokinen-Barkov. He just said that in the TV1 Urheiluruutu as a studio guest. He also said Aaltonen-Konna. Immonen-Pihlström are locked to play together. Also I'm not sure about Aaltonen with Barkov. We could try it but I got a bad feeling about that.

I'm not sure but didn't he say Rinne is quite likely to come? Anyone else saw the Urheiluruutu?

I hope this doesn't mean that Kemppainen-Donskoi won't be on the team :amazed:

I know that. The lineup was sort of my dream lineup with some mix of realism. We have to deal with the fact that KJ wont separate Jokinen-Barkov. He just said that on TV1 Urheiluruutu.

He must have some attitude problem admitting he can be wrong. Likely we will seperate them in 2nd intermission of QF game when losing and 1st line still doing nothing.

For what it's worth, Ohtamaa, Jokipakka and Jaakola are pretty big and defensively solid too.

And as far as I'm aware, the squad also has one 20-year-old, very skilled d-man with a bright future in the NHL. His name's just not Ristolainen, but Esa Lindell.

So the duos that are locked in KJ's mind & confirmed in Urheiluruutu:
1st line:Barkov-Jokinen
2nd line:Kontiola-Aaltonen
3rd line:Kemppainen-Donskoi
4th line:Immonen-Pihlström

He didn't mention Kemppainen-Donskoi as a lock on Urheiluruutu though.

It could also be that Immonen-Pillu are in #3 and Kemppainen in #4, but if Kemppainen is with Donskoi in #3 then Immonen-Pillu are #4. We might just see Donskoi in line #1 or #2 and I really hope Kemppainen is used with Donskoi on the PP in a 4 forward unit. Hietanen or Lindell can be the lone defender.

I hope this is not the case: Kemppainen outside the line up, Hytönen 4C.

Ah okey, i didnt see urheiluruutu. Well maybe he comes to his senses and separate them after a while. But who knows maybe they fit better together on big ice. I mean thats what we all want so.
 
Jalonen did not mention the Kärpät pair when he ticked off the duos, but he did not say either that he intends to split them.

So I'd say that what we'll see is:

Barkov-Jokinen-X
X-Kontiola-Aaltonen
Donskoi-Kemppainen-X
X-Immonen-Pihlström

Then insert J.Pesonen, Ruutu, Hartikainen and Komarov to those open slots.

Yeah, I value Ohtamaa higher than most here probably. Jaakolas and Jokipakkas value comes without saying. Still think its wrong.. its not catastrophic for our team but its wrong.

Yup I just edited my post a bit above and thought the same :). It's quite obvious. Just hoping he doesnt do something stupid like get Hytönen in and leave Kemppainen out of the line up.

Big question is, will he utilize Kemppainen & Donskoi together on the PP. I really hope so and it's possible to still keep all the duos together if it's done with a 4 forward PP combo. At the same time we can have Kemppainen be the main face offer in one of the PP units. He's great in those. Barkov already has J.Jokinen as back up face off guy so maybe he could combine Aaltonen-Kontiola-Kemppainen-Donskoi for the PP (and I personally don't even think Aaltonen needs to be there for the PP).

You know, those two did NOT play in the same PP unit with Kärpät, so why should they here? At least by default, that is.

Sounds good but i can see your Kärpät lasit from here;) You mean build around Barkov?:)
No offence to Donskoi but i would rather have Barkov as the guy whom all the plays go through

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure I saw them together very often there and for that the domination of points scored or was it the opposite, on 5on5 they were together with Junttila then? Maybe I mixed them then and Donskoi played with Pirnes on the PP. Could be.

It could still be nice to have them together on the PP you know, since we have 3 clear PP defenders anyways, one of the units can be 4 forwards one.

I disagree with the cut too, but I find it hard to be mad. He technically wouldn't have added anything to the team it doesn't already have - and it's not like the team lost its 'flavor' with him either. Between Saros (who hopefully gets a game or two), Lindell, Jokipakka, Barkov and Donskoi, the squad has plenty of young and exciting players to watch even without RR. More than usual I might add.

People are bit too hung up on the Risto snub IMO. Even without him, it's probably the most interesting team we've seen in years.
 
Didn't KJ in Urheiluruutu also say something like, it's all about finding the 3rd links for these duos. So if we try to read between the lines, he could be planning in switching Barkov-Jokinen's 3rd link. I can't remember was it Ruutu or Hartikainen in last game. I know Jokinen isn't Huberdeau or Jagr but maybe he will put J.Pesonen there as a 3rd link to make it a skill line, just like Barkov had a skill line in Florida. This way maybe we could get more out of Barkov?

I just want to see him change some things and try some things so he doesn't have to be 'jälkiviisas' about it (afterwise is that a real word lol?). KJ's stubbornness is the only thing that bugs me about the him.
 
I don't understand how cutting RR even came up. Similar to Määttä in that I would never imagine leaving either of them out of a team they could be acquired to. I'd probably put RR into the top line too. Maybe the coaching staff knows something we don't.

He had that scary +/- record in NHL. While Buffalo sucked last season, I don't understand how some people here think RR is innocent with that +/- record.

I also hate not having him because he's one of our future defenders, but maybe he just wasn't ready yet. I would've also picked him over the likes of Mäntylä though.
 
Guys, it's official. This is the best team on paper we've had to the WHC on this decade.
 
So disappointed about Risto being dropped, and I will have to eat my hat for making some bold statements about him making the team 100%.

Glad about Rinne, and PLEASE FILPPULA, JOIN THE TEAM IF TAMPA LOSES THE SERIES!

More or less what I expect. Komarov and Hartikainen might end up swapped, and Pesonen might also rotate somehow with them.
