This future Elite-division, Olympic team sure seems to be struggling against Estonia.

Is there a reason why Tadas Kumeliauskas is not suiting up for Lithuania yet again?

Concussion, yet again. Same as last year. I just hope his career doesn't get completely ruined by these head injuries.

Thanks, did not know that. Are there any other significant absentees on the Lithuanian roster? Overall this team look younger than usually.

Only notable absentees other than Zubrus are Katulis and Verenis who are obviously great players but not at the time of their career where they would be ready to play for NT. I guess we should start to consider Katulis as "retired". Overall, not really huge losses at this point, team should get younger over next few years since this generation (~ '94-'97 born) is best ever.

Also, don't know if works outside of Lithuania, but still, game stream

Did Zubrus say why he not playing?

Yeah he had to be present at season-end events like exit interview, meeting with owner, some other stuff. He managed to come over last year since WC started week later.

Also, seeing how Ališauskas is turning into a legit solid pro, who else managed to become one of those who played for the late Liepajas team? Kuzmenkovs, anyone else?

Edit: also announcers just reminded, Pijus Rulevičius is absent too, completely forgot about him. Not a star by any means, but would add some depth to the team.

Welp, 1-0 win. Turns out sometimes it's good to have SHL goalie in a scrub championship.

Rather nervous for Thursday's game after another unconvincing performance, but did just enough to get by Estonia today.

Really need to get the offence going, as I don't think we'll be keeping South Korea to just 1 or 2 goals against.

These KHL guys Croatia has are literally in their own league.

Yes yes, once again, this game is a great evidence of that, Lithuania outplayed and outclassed :sarcasm:

I'd say high quality scoring chance are 3-0 Lithuania so far but stream went full potato during Croatian PP so maybe Croatian posters can correct me on this one.

What a save by Dekanich on what looked like a shot into an empty net.. Not lucky at all.

Since when Lithuania is playing Canadian jerseys? :/

Since last year. We can't get legit Canadiens so decided to at least embrace the inner Canada.

I do like the new Lithuanian jerseys, but I also think the old ones in the colours of the flag were really good as well, what with the unique colour combination and all.

Man if Croatians fail to qualify for D1A they can easily apply for diving elite division next year. Doing country proud, that KHL talent.

Result was too harsh.
Lithuania played better hockey then GB in Game 1. They still have a chance to upset GB or Korea if they manage to play on this level.
We played a better game than against GB.

Result isn't too bad considering the last goal was empty netter. 3-1 is kinda fair and square considering qualities of the teams. Lithuanians were unlucky not to get in front 2-0 at some point but again if we did game could have easily ended 4-2.

Just too much quality on that Croatian team and too little on Lithuanian one for playing second night in a row.

Yeah GB looks pretty bad 2nd year in a row. Maybe that's just who they are, I means these guys are not really scorers with a few exceptions.

Well, I think we were definitely more than one goal better than Estonia today, but the problem compared to other teams is that we really struggle with top six attacking talent. Added to that is Russell's seeming hatred for the top British goal scorer (Craig Peacock), but the large number of British forwards (Colin Shields, Robert Lachowicz, and recently Robert Dowd) who can get to near a point per game in the EIHL, just can't seem to score at international level. That and our amazing ability to turn the puck over at the blueline and concede shorthanded goals.

We haven't had a 'good' tournament from a forward since Dowd single handedly kept us in Division 1A in Slovenia 2012.
