I don't think I will ever understand HC selections. Jarry not invited. Crouse over Marner and Strome who are both having terrific seasons and at least deserves a shot in camp etc.

No Jarry but they invited the guy with the .886 save percentage? Makes sense.

Hockey Canada learned nothing from last year. Why in the heck is there no competition for the Goaltender Spot? Why just name your two goalies now 3-4 weeks in advance, and have a guy like Jarry on the sidelines? Mindboggling decision to have already named your two goalies.

A lack of right-handed shots are a concern for me. Have no clue why guys like Marner and Strome are not there as well. Every year- i am left scratching my heads at the roster. Invite the guy with .886 save percentage, and leave a guy like Jarry on the sidelines. The goaltending was not stellar last year. Competition was needed instead of naming your two goalies off the bat. Hockey Canada never learns from past mistakes, and then they are wondering why they cannot win GOLD.

Still 2 weeks or so until a decision but I really expect at least 3 out of the 4 to be loaned from the NHL in Lazar, Duclair, Horvat.

Drouin's the only question, but unless he really stinks it up, don't think they'll send him, even though he'd miss only 6 games.

My prediction assuming no NHLers come back:

Dal Colle - McDavid - Baptiste
Klimchuk - Reinhart - Domi
Fabbri - Chartier - Ritchie
Paul - Gauthier - Petan
Point

Fleury - Morrissey
Bigras - Nurse
Heatherington - Bowey
Theodore

Comrie
Fucale

Bertuzzi (12th in OHL scoring) and Nastasiuk (Top grinding FW, C for his team) not invited to the camp.

Huh.

At least Hicketts is there, speaks volume on his progression.

Love the av not the team

I expect Duclair (healthy scratch for Kreider returning), Lazar, and Drouin (2pts in last 8GP and a scratch in there) to be loaned to TC.

Duclair-McDavid-Lazar
Drouin-Reinhart-Petan
Dal Colle-Domi-Virtanen
Paul-Gauthier-Baptiste
Fabbri/Klimchuk

Gives us a very talented lineup.

I have a feeling that a lot of Canadians are going to fall in love with Fabbri. I see him as this year's lead by example, feet always moving, Gallagher/Schwartz kind of guy.

What kind of player is Chartier? Haven't seen much of him.

In addition to having 29 goals and leading the WHL in scoring, Chartier is Kelowna's best defensive forward. He takes care of his own end, never cheats and works his arse off every shift. I would think he is the perfect player for TC but odds are stacked against him as it seems its usually the bigger named players who have spots to lose as opposed to guys like Chartier earning a spot.

I hope Jarry uses this snub as motivation. Personally, I'd tell HC to go fly a kite if they came calling after this.

Defending Memorial Cup champion goalie not even invited, what a joke.

The problem hicketts is facing is that morissey, theodore, and bowey are just as good on offense as him if not better, and they are much better in their own end even Theodore.

This is false.

Joe Hicketts is a fantastic shutdown defensman, I watched him as a first year player absolutely own the best line in the CHL (Rattie-Petan-Leipsic).

This is a player you have to watch before commenting on. He's a stud, he's not your average small offensive dman.

It's not really progression, he's always been an HC darling. People who haven't seen him much are now just wising up.

The fleury sanheim pairing in the u18's was phenomenal. Those two are just a natural pairing it seems. That is a pairing id like to see.

Huh? Fleury was almost exclusively paired with Mckewon the last few games. Sanheim was paired with Hicketts towards the end of the tournament. At the beginning, Sanheim may have been with Thomas mostly. But I didn't see the early games.

I know I'm a Jets fan but I'm puzzled by some people thinking, that despite the role Petan played on the team last year, he is somehow going to end up on the 4th line or the 13th forward.

Yeah Sanheim was on the left with Hicketts on the right.

won't happen but one can dream

Duclair - Drouin - McDavid
Virtanen - Reinhart - Baptiste
Lazar - Horvat - Domi
Dal Colle - Gauthier - Fabbri
Klimchuk

Nurse - Morrissey
Morin - Bowey
Fleury - Theodore
Sanheim

Fucale
Comrie

I expect at least 1 of the NHLers to be loaned (most likely Duclair)

If he's playing center then he is most likely behind McDavid & Reinhart and if any one of Drouin, Horvat or Lazar are loaned he's behind them as well. If they want to get him in the top 6 then he will probably end up on the wing (unless McDavid's hand isn't fully healed)

Although 3rd line Center would not be a bad place for him as he'll be playing with talented players no matter what.

It seems like people are only judging him based on a few games last year. His play this year in the OHL has earned another look. 6th in the OHL among defensemen in scoring and voted the best defensive defenseman in the league by the coaches.

It's more than just last year. He also really struggled during this year's summer evaluation camp.

I wonder if Team Canada inquired about Nathan MacKinnons availability. One can dream. Scary that he is still eligible.

I think i got those games confused with the preseason tournament they played in. The one where fleury looked fantastic.
