He's in the NHL...

So it doesn't mean he is ruled out of camp?

There was talk that the Rangers might release him. And since he just got scratched with Kreider coming back, I'd think they're leaning towards that.

Because Duclair is in the NHL and Hockey Canada announced they would release the decisions on those in the NHL by December 19?

Ah. Thank you!

You could be right. We'll see. I don't think he does.

Baptiste would be a good grinder/forechecker who can be a net front pressence and has some good puck skills as well.

Just watched Bob Mckenzie's clip, and him saying that they want 4 lines that can score and aren't looking for checkers is interesting. Makes me think that Gauthier will be in tough to be anything other than the 13th forward if he makes it at all.

No Marner, Ho-Sang or Strome. Another pathetic year for Team Canada.

Frankly- i am shaking my head at why these three guys were not invited. It has been a regular pattern of me shaking my head every year when i look at the selection roster for Canada. Maybe others know better, but i had these three guys as invites.

If Morin is fit and 100% then the defence will most likely be
Nurse - Morrissey
Fleury - Bowey
Morin - Bigras
Theodore
If not then Sanheim comes in.

The fleury sanheim pairing in the u18's was phenomenal. Those two are just a natural pairing it seems. That is a pairing id like to see.

What did Ho Sang do to upset hockey Canada? He got a slap in the face there.

In a short tournament Hockey Canada wants players who are going to listen to the coaches, and play the system they want. They don't like players who play individualistic styles, who will most likely play outside the system and potentially be a problem on and off the ice.

Now you can debate whether Ho-Sang would be that kind of player/problem but that's the thinking HC probably has and why he didn't get an invite.

Hicketts has been playing lights out

small but one of it not the smartest dman on the team when it comes to creating offence

The problem hicketts is facing is that morissey, theodore, and bowey are just as good on offense as him if not better, and they are much better in their own end even Theodore.

No Marner, Ho-Sang or Strome. Another pathetic year for Team Canada.

No Ho-Sang is fine, but Marner and Strome had to be there.

I am also alarmed at the lack of right handed shots. Only Madison Bowey is a RH on defense, and there are only 4 RH shots amongst the forward group.

My preliminary lines based on camp:

Dal Colle - McDavid - Virtanen
Domi - Fabbri - Reinhart
Ritchie - Petan - Baptiste
Klimchuk - Gauthier - Point
Dickinson

Morrissey - Bowey
Nurse - Fleury
Bigras - Sanheim
Morin - Theodore

Fucale
Comrie

Fabbri - McDavid (A) - Virtanen (brings grit, speed, skill all at once)
Dal Colle - Reinhart (A) - Domi (Pretty much line 1B)
Baptiste - Petan - Point
Klimchuk - Gauthier - Ritchie (Big gritty line can match up against tough competition)
Elie

Nurse - Morrissey (C)
Morin - Bowey
Fleury - Theodore
Heatherington (slots in against bigger more physical teams like the USA)

Fucale
Comrie

Kinda upset that Ho-Sang, Jarry, McCann, Subban didn't get invites but ill get over it

What did Ho Sang do to upset hockey Canada? He got a slap in the face there.

"The way that I'm portrayed is someone who's stubborn and never changes but I'm just someone who asks 'why,'" Ho-Sang said after participating in Day 1 of BioSteel Camp at St. Michael's College School Arena in Toronto.

"People who are very black and white don't like that at all because you're questioning the masses, you're questioning the way things have been done. That's why things change right? It's those types of minds and people (who ask why) that change everything, I don't understand how that's a negative thing anywhere."

Because in a short timeframe they need to build a team, gel and build a system. It does not work well when one guy is always asking "why" instead of following instructions.

Based on the camp list, this is how I see the team shaking out aside from any help they get from NHL players:

Domi - Mcdavid- Ritchie
Petan - Reinhart - Virtanen
Dal Colle - Fabbri - Baptiste
Klimchuck - Gauthier - Point

Elie

Notes on forwards: Dickenson would probably be my next alternate but I like the versatility that Elie brings and that he can play within a system on any line. Wasn't really sure where to put Fabbri but I have to think he makes the team! Love his fore-checking and relentless hustle along with a high skill level. Have Ritchie playing on the top line as I feel he would complement McDavid by going to the net hard and opening up space while still having plenty of skill. Could just as easily end up on the 4th line or the 13th forward role though. Like the inclusion of Crouse to the camp, don't think he makes the squad but it's a great experience for him and a testament to what Hockey Canada thinks of the guy!

Nurse – Morrissey
Fleury – Bowey
Morin - Bigras
Theodore

Notes on the D: Nurse and Morrissey are LOCKS and should anchor the D. Only real questions are Morin's health and the ability to provide offence from the backend. That's why I have Theodore as the 7th D-man.

Fucale
Comrie

Goalies are pretty straightforward and I expect Fucale to get the nod early! Personal opinion after having wathced them both a lot is Comrie is the better goalie and should be the starter but we'll see!

Overall the team should be very competitive this year but could really use one more NHL player to help IMO.

Many Canadiens are not on this list despite having been selected in front of Brayden Point at the draft. Clearly a solid pick for Tampa Bay!

Ho-Sang isn't mature enough but Ritchie is?

Mature is a vague term and I feel like it doesn't really apply in this sense. I can understand the criticism of Ritchie potentially making the team over a guy like Ho-Sang but to me the difference is the way they play the game. Ho-Sang is super talented but his game is very free-flowing and not conducive to the Hockey Canada preference of a system oriented style of play whereas Ritchie is able to play within a system and thrive in a role that not many others can, a skilled power forward who opens up space for his line-mates. So while "maturity" may be an issue with both players in different ways, it ultimately comes down to style of play and roles.

Do I think Ho-Sang is among the most talented 13 forwards in Canada? Absolutely! But that doesn't mean he should be granted a spot with the team. I really don't think the "maturity" is the issue with Ho-Sang and Hockey Canada, it's simply style and role he plays that doesn't gel with Hockey Canada brass.

Now the potential issues with Ritchie are mostly discipline related but I'm guessing Hockey Canada brass will try and address those. And if he can, than he absolutely deserves to make the team as he would provide a unique role for this team and I can see him making an impact!

Just my thoughts...
