I think this will basically end Gauthier's chances at the team. Reinhart and Lazar are two capable centres that can take defensive zone faceoffs, play on the PK just like Gauthier and are better two-way players. On the 4th line, a guy like Dickinson or Paul have a better chance IMO.

I wonder if they play Lazar at C, Lazar was playing C in Ottawa and if you want match-ups you should have Lazar at C facing off against other teams top lines. You want McDavid, Reinhart and Lazar playing alot but if HC wants Lazar playing a shutdown role well then you could have #1, #2, #3 centres as McDavid, Reinhart and Lazar.

A 4th line of Ritchie-Dickinson/Paul-Point would look really good. Some have Ritchie cut and I can see why but his talent on the 4th line is pretty tempting.

Lazar - C
Reinhart - A
Morrissey - A

I think you nailed it. Petan maybe with an outside chance but not over any of these guys I dont think.

I've seen Nurse and Gauthier listed by some. Nurse isnt even a returning D like Morrissey, no way he gets one. Gauthier is on the bubble and a fourth liner, no way he gets one over these guys.

Lazar getting loaned is huge, I thought last year he was Canadas second best forward and he really embodies "Canadian hockey".

I could see this happening as well. Obviously like you said, they want all three playing alot, but you can have them on the PP and Lazar and Reinhart on the PK as well.

dose anybody know if TSN is going to there World Junior Predictor Challenge Game Back this year?

 Good question. I forgot all about that. I hope so. Loved doing it. Made it that much more fun. I never came close to winning but still...

Sadly, if we haven't seen it yet, it doesn't look good.

Edit : I don't tweet. Can someone tweet TSN? (*TBH, I am not sure how Tweeting works.*)

I was going to email them but they do not have that info on their web-site - or I might have missed it.

I wouldn't be so quick to write-off Gauthier, though you raise a very valid point. Gauthier received good reviews for his strong performance last weekend in the CIS games (I know, I know...weak competition), and will be difficult to knock out of the 4C roster spot. The top three centers should receive fairly similar ice time (Crosby, Toews and Getzlaf received fairly similar ice time at the Olympics, with same game-to-game variation...then there was a bit of a drop-off to the fourth line, whether it was Tavares or Duchene), so there should be no concern with Lazar not getting his full share of the ice time.

The most important thing with getting Lazar onto the roster is that it allows Groulx the flexibility of icing a traditional two-way line, similar to the Toews line at the Olympics (though there are not defensive wingers of the same quality as Carter & Marleau), and have Paul or Dickinson center the 4th line, OR lining up Lazar with McDavid and presumably Fabbri. Lazar can be the defensive conscience of that line, take the faceoffs on his strong side (McDavid is LHed, Lazar is RHed), open up some space for McDavid & Fabbri to operate, and basically let them focus on generating offense. He can hold his own offensively with them too, obviously.

I'd lean towards lining up Lazar with McDavid, then rolling with two of either Gauthier/Dickinson/Paul as the 4th center and 13th forward. I have no issue with Gauthier, as he'll be comfortable with the smaller ice surface, his game suits that ice surface much more, and he'll probably have a guy like Point on his RW that can generate some offense on that line.

Lazar will take Petan's spot on McDavids line. Petan then moves into the bubble. My cuts would be; Richie, Gauthier, and now either Point or Petan.
Richie is not talented enough that his discipline is not a massive issue.
Gauthier size is not enough to beat Dickinson and Pauls offence.
Point or Petan are too small for the same line and you can't have them on the 4th. Edge goes to Petan as he's 19, experience, and not 160lbs

Dont know if anyone seen bob mckenzies roster based on what he thinks team canada will have it look like.

He had

Fabbri Mcdavid Lazar
Domi Reinhart Duclair
Petan Point Virtanen
Ritchie Paul Crouse

MDC Gauthier
Dickinson
Chartier

He said whoever of those remaining does not play well friday they will be cut.

So Petan goes from 1st line with McDavid to battling for 4th line checking duties?

If MDC gets cut in favour of Lawson Crouse and Gauthier to name a couple, I will lose it.

Yeah I can see why they would have Gauthier on the team but at the same time, Reinhart and Lazar are there for the defensive responsibilities and be relied for face-offs. I'd be good with our top 3 centres being McDavid, Reinhart and Lazar. Petan is pretty small and I don't like how he matches up against bigger players because we don't want liabilities out there and he might be one if he can't match up against bigger players. With his skill, being on the wing will probably be a better fit.

I think another line on the team will need Lazar's defensive ability more than McDavid's line. Fabbri and McDavid are smart players, they'll get it out of the zone when they have it on their stick. I think a line of Dal Colle-Petan-Virtanen will need Lazar's defensive play more than McDavid's.

I'm not 100% sold on Gauthier being better than others. He'll be more comfortable on the smaller ice like you said, Point can generate the offence but I think Paul or Dickinson bring a better all-around game to the 4th line and although Point can create it we'll need 3 solid players on a line who can play a good solid offensive game.

From my view, when big games come you'll need 3 solid lines and a 4th one that can be relied out there defensively and offensively. You want a 4th line that brings speed, skill and energy. I think during the big games, you want Lazar at C and it needs to be that way from the start because you can't switch up your lines right before a game.

Domi-Reinhart-Duclair
Fabbri-McDavid-Virtanen
Dal Colle-Lazar-Petan
Crouse-Dickinson-Point
Paul

To be honest, it's pretty hard trying to make sure we have reliability on all lines. Virtanen on the 2nd line makes the defence look pretty weak. I see where you are coming from on having Lazar on the 2nd line RW but then I look like Dal Colle-Petan-Virtanen and think that can be a disaster defensively.

Just a note on that bob was not clear when he suggested those remaining will likely see cuts after fridays game, if it included everyone he filled in (ritchie, point, paul, crouse) or the extra forwards he had.

So now those who wanted to put Gauthier out of the team because they wanted a more offensive minded team are now ready to cut guys like Dal Colle, Petan and Ritchie to make places to Paul,Dickinson,Chartier/Crouse, yeah, seems legit ...

So Petan goes from 1st line with McDavid to battling for 4th line checking duties?

No, he would be a third line winger and bump Point from the third line. Point offensively is better than anyone on the 4th line but defensively not even close. Point goes home!
So:

Domi - Reinhart - Duclaire
Fabbri - Mcdavid - Lazar
MDC - Paul - Petan
Crouse - Dickinson - Virtanen
Chartier?

Cut - Richie
Point (sucks but can't be on 4th or 3rd line(3rd line would be too small))
Gauthier

Anyone from Saskatchewan with Shaw? I'm kind of worried because I only get TSN2 and 3, and none of the Team Canada games are on those channels. I won't get a single Canada game. It might sound ridiculous, but I also missed out on SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDER playoff games, while living IN SASKATCHEWAN.

Is there any way around this? This is legitimately horrible.

I certainly have no issue with the lineup you proposed, though I'm not sure about Petan on the wing. I like my playmakers / puck distributors at center (personal preference). You may be overstating how weak a Petan line, with Dal Colle and Virtanen on the wings, would be defensively. Good-to-great speed as a lime and great size on the wings and, besides, they'll be attracting the 3rd lines of other teams anyway. If they're caught in an unfavourable matchup, Groulx could mix in the 13th forward (Dickinson or Paul) to add some defensive posture. But I wouldn't be concerned about that line. I've said it before, but I'm fairly indifferent between Dickinson, Gauthier and Paul as all have their strengths and weaknesses. We're talking about forwards #11 - 13 on the depth chart. Groulx will mix and match as he sees fit until the right balance is found.
