I found this on Twitter if anyone is interested. Yankee Stadium will have some sort of public skating.

You can rent out the rink for your group, but as you can imagine it won't come cheap:

From what I understand the Islanders as the home team have not done a good job at selling their allotment of tickets while the Rangers sold most of theirs. Many of the tickets flooding the market were actually given to the Islanders to sell originally and their fans did a terrible job supporting them as the home team.

Rumor I heard was the opposite. Isles sold 17k of 20k given, Rangers 10k of 20k.

That's not possible on the Rangers side. We had to buy both the Devils game & Islanders game as a package - you couldn't just buy the Devils game. What they didn't sell was then offered to Knicks season ticket holders. I can tell you with 100% certainty than much more than 10K ticket packages were sold on the Rangers side

I wonder if there is more to it then, because that doesn't make sense. But I know the Isles have been selling well for the game.

Selling well? For a team that has never hosted a regular season game before on a big stage like Yankee Stadium I wouldn't call 85% selling well. Actually I think the NHL screwed the fans(whats new) by overpricing the tickets that is why there are a lot of seats for sale.

There should always be an effort to push discounted tickets to fans who can't afford to spend a fortune on good tickets. The Wednesday game is most definitely going to have 80% of the seats filled. They should WANT to fill the stadium and not price out the majority of each fan base.

Those numbers were 2 months ago. That is selling well. The selling well part came from my rep, I think he'd know.

NHL did mess up big time with the prices.

They knew they could charge what they did - their mistake was thinking they could do it for two consecutive games. You can easily squeeze people on a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. "Twice in a lifetime (couple days actually)" - not so much.

They got greedy and now we have the situation we're in

I agree completely, and even the date for our game, a Wednesday? Luckily the people I'm going with have taken off/scheduled out how they are going to the game but I know two people personally who can't go for work/union reasons. Others is pricing.

Looks like next year they will scale it down.

Personally feel the games should have been sat/sun and day games 1-3pm...7pm in late january will be pretty cold..

luckily sold 2 of my 4 islander games seats sec 424 for $720 on stubhub before the holidays ($229 face)

the positional standings of both teams surely hasnt helped ticket sales as well, not to mention your trying to squeeze triple the amount of fans into the stadium as a regular game.

A lot of High Schools have mid-terms scheduled that week. I know a few friends of mine at work that considered taking their kids to the Islander game but will know probably pass. One game would have been perfect.

It's regents week for NYC public high schools. Possible some kids may have tests but all the others will be off.

GordonGecko, when do you think the best time to buy tickets would be? A lot of those $71 tickets from yesterday in the Grandstand are gone today.

Anyone have an idea on what the viewing angle of those bleacher seats would be? I just can't picture it.

I imagine that if you stayed in your seat the view would be of whatever the NHL throws down on the outfield and a lot of glass reflections around the rink. I just can't imagine those seats providing any decent view of the game at all.

There's 9k tickets left and a few weeks until the game. It's also a Wednesday night.

Unless anything drastic changes, I'd be a mistake if you don't wait to buy on the day of the game.

I can see tickets drop to $10, maybe less for those bleacher seats.

If you're looking for premium seats and have the money, buy whenever.

$10 will not happen, there's just way too many people who would jump on that. I think the best time to buy will be around 1 week before the game. By the day of the game, everything under $100 is going to be long gone

Same question. Should I have bought those or keep waiting?

i would get an idea of where you want to sit, filter by those sections on stubhub and refresh the page every once in a while. some seller will drop the price just to get their listing at the lowest price to get out of their seats. hopefully you'll be lucky enough to catch it

I'll say it again. Is everyone forgetting the hundreds and thousands of people who will be coming to the area around that time. Who knows what is going to happen a few days before the game in the resale market. And I'm pretty sure you won't be able to but tickets on Stubhub the day before the game. You'd have to turn to craigslist or here.

I guess we'll wait and see what happens. Definitely a lot of people coming to town for Super Bowl week but you never know.

I'll be watching it on my nice big television here in DC :)

You'll be able to buy tickets on stubhub right up until game time. Demand will pick up - I don't see prices getting back up to anywhere near face value but the best deals will be from now to about a week before the game. No rain at all in the forecast
