Just last night I referred to "the Mike Gillis Amateur Hour".

I stand by that comment.

The end result is that Cory Schneider and Roberto Luongo have been traded for Jacob Markstrom, Shawn Matthias, Bo Horvat, and 15% of Luongo's contract until the end of time.

posted about it on the mains, but no reason why you guys (well the CBJ organization) doesn't at least see how cheap Schenn would come.. never bad to bring in someone who used to play well if you get him for pennies.. can always start one of the other youngsters ahead of him even if you land him.

Most pro scout staffs are at homebase through the deadline.

A different question... is there really that much more that you can learn by going to a game versus watching it on TV from a scouting perspective?

I would say yes. You can watch them the entire game. You can how they are on the puck, away from the puck, on the bench, etc.... You can only see so much on TV.

It’s Erat and John Mitchell for Klesla, Chris Brown and a pick.

Another former Jacket comes to Metro. This time it's the first ever Jackets pick. I lost the count of former Jackets playing for divisional rivalries.

Rangers had interest but were informed today that Ryan Kesler will not waive no-trade to come to New York, Post has learned.

I'd like to see JK give these guys a chance to stay together through the playoff push to give them a chance to grow as a team. Because of that I hope he stands pat.

Question for EVERYONE on the board.

Does Gaborik help this team get in the playoffs? Yes or no.

I really can't tell. If he doesn't, there has to be someone that will give futures, picks prospects for him right? This trade looks like a dud to me but it was necessary to move the guys (Dorse, Brass, Moore) to make room for the next wave imo.

I think he helps them get in, if they get in. I have to think he's good for a few more goals this season and there may be truth to the idea that he clears space for others to work due to teams keying on him. I was hoping he'd be more of a factor in his return (and he has scored a goal this week) but I agree with those who say he's pretty easy to separate from the puck.

There are other players who could help them get in more than Gabby, but I think he's enough of a factor to not give up for low picks.
