Final predictions today:

I think Gaborik likely stays. I get the strong impression that this sudden urgency to move him is a result of Dispatch Mind Control.

I think we bring in a veteran defenceman today. Think guys along the caliber of Nick Schultz.

Gabby being on the ice makes the other team respect him. Not saying we must keep him, but teams still must pay attention to his presence.

Yeah, when they leave him alone in front of the net he knocks the puck out of the air, lets it hit the ice, and then back-hand roofs it. Say what you want, but there isn't much of that kind of skill on this team.

Having said that; there is a lack of a forecheck and some poor defensive zone play when he's on the ice.

To be fair; he's also only back 4 games from two injuries. Then again, he has injury history.

It's not as simple as what drieson is making it out to be. Having said that; I like Gaborik, but at this point I probably wouldn't re-sign him. However, I'm not sure we're desperate to move him.

Final prediction time

We sit pat for the most part, but acquire two veteran defensemen

We will trade a draft pick/mid range prospect for one of them, Comeau and a low pick for another (In a similar situation as Comeau is in now)

Gaborik stays

Now my around the NHL prediction

MSL to NYR DOESNT happen. Not until the offseason anyway

Kesler goes to Philadelphia

Edler stays until offseason

Hemsky goes to Pittsburgh

Moulson goes to LA

Vanek goes to Anaheim

Ehrhoff stays, Myers stays, Halak stays

Stewart leaves, I don't know where, but Stewart goes somewhere.

Hope I didn't forget anyone.

I've said before that I'm fine if the Jackets do absolutely nothing at the trade deadline, and I still feel that way. The team's record has been pretty good with Gaborik in the lineup the last two years, so I'm not worried about whether he 'fits' or not. I won't be upset if he goes, but I'd roll the dice that he rediscovers some magic while he plays for a contract.

If Murray and Tyutin or out for longer than what they are saying now, I don't mind a cheap, veteran D-man for a late round pick or something.

I think that Gaborik will be moved as part of a package deal that will return a forward and veteran defenseman. I also think that one of our 2015 draft picks are involved (likely the extra third rounder, first if the deal significantly improves the team). The deal sweetener if necessary is picking up part of Gaborik's salary. I wouldn't be shocked if the deal is with Buffalo or Calgary.

from the dispatch:

"It seems clear that Marian Gaborik is not such a terrific fit here. Move him along and, oh, yes, give Derek MacKenzie an extension"

I've never seen hockey writers who hate european and skill players so much and salivate over 4th liners so much. It's comical. D-Mac and Gabby don't even belong in the same sentence.

I'm hoping we keep him.

Makes sense.

The "not a good fit" thing is garbage.

But I can't find the quote. Link?

To each his own opinion. But I dont think Gaborik fits the team identity. The team has done well without him and he is expendable.

The team has done well without Boll, Comeau and has now won 3 of 4 games without Tyutin.

There are legitimate arguments to be made for trading Marian Gaborik today. Doesn't fit team identity is just lazy. (Ironic.)

If we trade him, we trade him.

Gaborik was always an injury plauged player prone to streaks - it's not like he hasn't tried since he's been here. By all accounts he is a well liked, team guy, and if you follow any of the guys of twitter or instagram he's always taking young guys like Cam out to dinner.

I hate how the dispatch paints him as like some diva who doesn't care about the team. When healthy last year down the stretch, he was a great fit and a major impact player. If it doesn't work out, it was because of injuries, nothing else. Not because he's nota good fit or doesn't fit the teams identity, as the dispatch likes to paint it.

...Really?
Gaborik doesn't "fit" anymore because his injuries have sapped from him his elite goal scoring ability, and the rest of his game doesn't match up to the sizable salary he commands.

I love Cammy, so if we could trade Gaborik, obtain a vet defenseman and get Cammalleri, that would be a wildly successful day.
