If Carolina retained 10 % of Staal's salary to make it more palatable, you assume NYR slots in 2 rookies who stick, gets semi-favorable deals out of a few of their RFAs/UFAs, AND the cap is $71 mil and no less... then you can almost make it work. And of course the below only uses 20 roster spots. So overall very unrealistic scenario, but whatever. What's the fun in reality?
