Looks like Pouliot is definitely hitting the market:

Larry Brooks ‏@NYP_Brooksie

Pouliot agent Kent Hughes via text on whether it appears that No. 67 is indeed headed to the market: "So far."

3 years 9 million and he will come back, c'mon Slats!

I don't know why anyone would doubt the Rangers are after Spezza. It's fits Sather's M.O. perfectly. I almost think he has to do something like Spezza because this team is between a rock and a hard place with a lack of prospects, no 1st rounder again next season, and some killer contracts on the roster. Might as well actually go all-in and try and win it.

I don't know if Spezza can make the difference but our centers were exposed in the Finals as being too small, lacking skill and/or not being good on faceoffs. Spezza has size, skill and was 54% on faceoffs last season.

We have nothing to give for Spezza, save for Staal on a similar contract (length-wise). That being said, we'd have to replace Staal -AND- somehow account for Spezza's cap hit.

Unless Nash is going to Ottawa, this isn't in the realm of possibility.

The reason I like him as an option is he has one year left on his deal. If his play drops we just let him walk. If he excels we have time to try to resign him.

Agreed. If you want to go in another direction after next season you can let him and MSL walk.

Ehhh I'd have a worry about that, but he nixed a trade to Nashville over the weekend. I have a feeling he has a select few teams he would go to, and I think the Rangers are one of them.

I'll put it this way, if we got Spezza I would be okay with it. He is a first line center.. 7 million cap hit is not horrific and besides last year he is producing at nearly a point a game. Sign me up.. reluctantly.

The only good part about that is The rangers then have leverage against OTT as to how much they want to give up.

Boyle wants a larger role which we've seen what happens when he's called upon to do that...

Stralman wants like 5M per.

Pouilot wants 3M per over a multi year deal.

Moore is really the only guy who should be back based on that.

This to the max... I Don't want those greedy ****ers near this team if that's how their going to act. Poo and Boyle (on ice play) are absolutely replaceable. Stralman isn't a devastation, but it's also a bad loss as well so...

Either way, it's not like we're on the verge of losing the real core of this team, which is Hank, Kreider, McDonough, Zucc, etc.

You would think so, but the MSL deal last year proved otherwise..

The Rangers lacked a certain degree of leverage themselves. They had an exploding asset in Callahan that they needed to get something for. I agree that in the end it was too much all together.

all we ended up trading was a 1st, a 7th, and a rental player for 2.5 years (estimated) of a superstar...

I think it was worth the trade, especially since Callahan resigned with them to send the 2nd back to us...

Honestly, is 5 per that bad for Stralman looking forward?

I'm not crazy about it, but I'm not sure I hate it either.

If Niskanen is getting 5-6M, then Stralman should be getting $4.5M max...

either way, I only keep him if Staal is shipped out... Otherwise, you let him walk and sign an offensive D with the money saved up for him. See Erhoff

It became better when the 2nd round pick next year comes back. However, the Rangers don't get to the Stanley Cup with Callahan.

I would have done the MSL deal, I was on the record (before registering here) that I was fine with it. MSL is a $$ player, I know they came up short, but they do have another crack next year if they replenish what they could lose. I do believe Pouliot, Boyle and Stralman will leave. But the Rangers have something up their sleeves.

They aren't worth what they want. Pouliot 3 mil?? Stralman 4.75-5? Boyle a 3rd liner? No, No and No.

2 firsts

Not upset by the trade, but at the end of the day and considering that Cally re-signed there 2 firsts were excessive. The conditional first was unnecessary.

Oh, and I'll be surprised if Dany Heatley isn't a Ranger tomorrow (or at some point).

Slats loves him and he's a reclamation project. I'm sure Glen is licking his chops.

Getting the 2nd round pick back helped some. A lot, actually. We got a finals run and snuck a pick back after Cally re-signed. I'm happy with it.

I have this creeping feeling that Erhoff signs a really reasonable, low-balled deal for some good team, and we find out the Rangers never pursued him...

Ughhhh Dany Heatley..

I'd say 2 years 2 million for him.. but that's it. And no I don't want Heatley.

Rosival 2.0. You can see it coming a mile away...

Way too much $ for a 1g 13p defender who's not physical and can barely get a shot on net...

Hes no PP QB either. Enough with this guy.

He's a 3.5m guy a best
