NYR Viper, going back to your proposed roster, a Zuc paycut would leave us with around a million in capspace to operate for next season.

Now that roster is looking better and better

Who cares? Newport works for Zucc, not the other way around.

He pays them to negotiate the contract for him. The player should keep his mouth shut and allow the agent to deal with it. Carmelo Anthony said he was willing to take less at the NBA all star game and that tune had changed now that free agency begins tomorrow. Phil Jackson keeps bringing that up now. It's a business. You can't blame the player for trying to get every penny because management will dump him at the first opportunity if the player doesn't perform. Newport gets their 3% for a reason. All of their players are very well compensated.

B. Boyle
D. Moore
Pouliot
Carcillo
Stralman
Diaz

All appear to hit the market tonight at midnight. Sather & Co. are showing restraint. Not willing to overpay B. Boyle. Not willing to overpay Stralman. Not willing to overpay D. Moore. Business is business. You need good value throughout the lineup. I'll be fine if these players walk so long as Sather & Co. are able to replace them with younger and cheaper bodies. That is what you need to do in a capped league.

I wonder if you trade Staal for pieces... if Erhoff would be a formidable replacement.

2nd line defensive pairing of Erhoff-Stralman.

I don't think you get MZA for 3.1 million. I really think the contracts I laid out are reasonable for both sides

Sign me up for that. I am surprised that the team isn't making more drastic changes to better fit AV's system. I know they did well, but he must see pieces that he likes to play his system and players who he thinks don't quite fit as well.

Sign me up for that too.

We could see AV induced changes. No one's been resigned yet, lol.

I agree. Also, it's one thing to say you'd take less for term to be on a competitive team, and it's another thing to say you'd get ***** to play somewhere when there are competing offers out there for more, on good teams, and for longer terms. Further, even saying that does not give an inkling about what he'd accept, who's looking at him and what they will offer him. And then, his agent gets involved. Shows him the facts, etc.

the only one I really really want back is Moore because his price reported is pretty reasonable.

MZA only said he would not push wages up to maximum, I'm thinking his idea of maximum is a little different than how we think of it.

FYI

An NTC does not travel with a player if a) the player waives a full NTC or b) the player is traded within the terms of a limited or modified NTC. In addition, if the player is traded before his NTC takes effect, it vaporizes unless — in rare circumstances — the acquiring club agrees in writing to be bound by it.

Nash was dealt prior to his NTC kicking in. Wonder if after 2014-15 it is gone or if Sather and co. agreed in writing to be bound by it.

I meant that he could go from $4.1M to around $3.2-3.5M. It's still a 200% increase in salary.

Also don't understand why 3 years of Dom Moore is a bad thing for such a low cost

ESPN sucks with hockey, but Jesus, what a ****ing slight.

"The Rangers will be in the hunt for help down the middle and have the potential to overpay for a guy like Stastny. Still seems more than a little miraculous the Rangers made it to the Cup finals and it's hard to imagine they'll be in a position to repeat next season. What do they do with Anton Stralman, who might have priced himself out of the Rangers' market with a strong playoff?"

Yes he was. He had a NMC, his NTC kicks in in 2015-16. I don't even want to trade him, I just ran across that
Oh, I see what you mean. But no, NMC and NTC are treated as one according to that rule. That rule is for players who are traded before they are eligible to have a NTC in their contract

Not sure if posted:

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

Dan Boyle will have multiple offers tomorrow on a 2 yr deal. TB, Tor, Det, NYR and Mtl believed to be his top 5. #TSN

Out of all the D-men out there (Fayne, Stralman, Ehrhoff) Boyle is the one I'd be concerned about the most because he most likely will be paid the most of these guys and his played slipped a bit last season.

Would be a typical lazy Sather move if he signs him.

Darren Dreger gets less and less credible every year so I really don't put much stock into that tweet.

It would be completly asinine, even by Sather's standards, to sign Dan Boyle at the expense of Stralman.
