I'd be fine with that too, but do you realistically think that AV will slot Miller on our 2nd line? Miller was in his dog house for much of this year.

If you remember before the season started, a lot of reports were coming out that Miller was impressing the coaches and would take Kreider's spot out of camp. Vigneault's actions proved otherwise.

I love Miller as a prospect. Think he'll eventually start producing 57-65 points consistently. And while I think it would be optimal for him as a prospect to center MSL and Hagelin, I don't think that Vigneault will mortgage the team's success on a prospect.

Sutter put Toffoli and Pearson on the 4th line all year. I imagine that Vigneault will try and mitigate the responsibility JT has until he shows he's ready.

Richards was basically our 3rd line C.

Stepan was the #1 and the Zucc line was our #2 line.

Hags-Richie-Msl was our third line.

I don't think it would be bad to slot Miller in there. He lacks skills defensively, but MSL and Hags are both responsible enough to help cover that area of his game while he grows. He can help a lot on the forecheck too.

The only move they'll have to make otherwise is replacing Boyler, either in house or out. I'd prefer to try some of our guys down there. Lindberg or Fast possibly. We still need some size though.

I'm in agreement with BB.

Also saying Falk won't be qualified which is not a surprise . He likely leaves to get more playing time elsewhere but at under a million

Resign Diaz for depth at 1 million please

Semin is catching a ton of unfair criticism in Carolina, I think he is a great guy to buy low on and he is a great fit on the opposite wing of MSL.

Staal, Dorsett, and Klein

for

Semin (10% retained) and rights to Hainsey

This would still leave us with enough cap room to give Kreider a longer deal: No it didn't, forgot that I put him on bridge contract.

No to Semin and Hainsey will be UFA on July 1.

Hainsey's rights are just a throw-in, but he is probably the best UFA replacement for Staal that can be signed to a reasonably cheap deal so it works out well that way.

Semin just has a "rep", he has been Carolina's best forward since coming there.

I'd take Semin, but I don't see why Carolina would move him.

Because the want to upgrade their D, and if we can sell them on Staal being a legit top-pairing guy and Klein being a legit middle pairing guy they get a lot stronger there. Not to mention that if you think Klein is a legit middle pairing guy, his contract is very attractive to a budget team like the Hurricanes.

I certainly wouldn't do that trade if I'm Carolina, but I'm hoping they would.

Firstly, I think if we're going to give up half of our bottom 4, that Carolina should retain a decent amount of salary, even if they lose the trade on paper.

Secondly, while that is a very good trade for us on paper, I shudder at the thought of our blue line afterwards. Would be fine with Klein, am a bit shaky of moving Staal, but both would be tough to swallow.

What I would like to see this season is no major moves

Haglin--Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Miller-MSL
Poo-Brass-Zucc
Boyle-Moore-carcillo

McD-Girardi
Staal-McIIrath
Moore-Klein

Hainsey's rights are worth absolutely nothing less than 10 days before free agency. Personally I'm not a fan of Semin's. He's just another classic example of a player who almost always underachieves for the money he makes. He doesn't always play with effort. He is not that hot defensively and beyond all that if we had to add another top 9 forward I'd much prefer a center.

Semin has developed into a very good defensive winger. The myth that he is poor defensively is just a stigma.

All of you saying Miller isnt good because he was in AV's doghouse, what about that other kid we just signed, Haggerty, isn't he a center as well?

Also, for those of you slotting in Boyle, he wants more of a role, so he wont be back, according to the what the breakup stuff said.

No, he's a winger.

And Kreider wasn't exactly in AV's good graces at the start of the season, but he worked his way onto the team. I'm sure Miller will be capable of doing so regardless of AV's preconceived notions.

You're sure? Based on what? Because Kreider did?

That's like saying Stralman will win a Cup with us because Zubov did.

Miller has had disciplinary and motivational issues in the past. Kreider has been touted as extremely coachable at every level. They're two completely different players. What Kreider has done on his path to the NHL and to becoming a top-6 forward have absolutely no bearing on what Miller will or
wont do.

Pencilling Miller in as anything but a fourth line forward, or depth forward is wishful thinking. We hope he can make the jump and play like a 3C, but he's done nothing to prove he's capable of that yet. His brief NHL career has been a crash-course in inconsistency (which is totally normal for young players, but to expect him to be a full-time center in an important role such as 3C is ill-advised IMO).

Also, Haggerty was drafted as a center, but if he's ready in the next 1-2 years, it's going to be hard for him to crack the lineup as such, especially as we're in win now mode. Also, I personally believe his game translates better to the wing in the NHL, but that's just personal opinion.
