Hope Barbashev falls. Even if Buffalo and Florida don't plan on picking him, someone will trade in before us!

That is if we till have the 33rd pick in the morning...

You knew we would land Barbashev? :amazed: Wow. That is some serious prognostication. Even if we don't get him, I am impressed

Haha no, I just knew it would be quality.

I played devil's advocate last year and said if it was Paajarvi+Jaskin, would you feel differently about it? And that is something that will be a reality tomorrow morning.

A maybe third liner and a prospect we only hope is as good as Perron = cartwheels for me.

Obviously it's not great, just sayin it doesn't look as bad. Army still should've gotten more, but in the end, we could very well end up breaking even on the deal.

Worst case we get MacInnis, a big legitimate center that happens to be Al's son.

Barbashev, Kamenev, or MacInnis would be good picks. Another center is Eric Cornel.

It will be something to see if it's MacInnis. It sounds like Armstrong and company want him to go elsewhere so no pressure, but he loves the Blues.
Barbashev had to fall do to the KHL factor. Should be an interesting morning.

We actually landed Robby Fabbri. We have a center prospect. That's very exciting.

Another possible guy for the Blues to target at 33 is Ryan Donato. It's always a bit of a risk to draft a guy out of high school because the competition isn't nearly the same as USHL or CHL/Euro Jr., but the scouting reports make him seem like the total package. I would not mind the pick at all.

Who are you all's top 5 remaining?

Top 3 are all that matter. We are guaranteed one of them, and none will be around for the next pick.

1) Barbashev - This is a steal if we can land him. He is a talented scorer but can also play decent D and good with puck possession along the boards. Of all the top end offensive talent in this draft, he may be the best in those regards. Really seems like a fit for the Blues, except he can shoot the puck on net.

2) Kamenev - Big talented Russian center who can shoot and protects the puck well with his size. Good all around skill set. He uses his size well, can play defense, skate.

3) Lemiuex - We have tried to get older, gritty players to get under people's skin. Why not get one that is young an talented. He can score goals or drop the gloves. Plays a lot like his dad Claude who was an awesome guy to have come playoff time.

For our second 2nd pick, I am hoping for Pollock, Donato, or Macinnis fall. Wouldn't mind a flyer on Demko at this point. Safety pick would be Cornell.

I would say Barbashev, Donato, McKeown, Dougherty, Macinnis.

i second this, but would add anton karlsson. I would also hope that we get gavin bayreuther... but i think he will be available in the 3rd or 4th round still

WHAT ON EARTH???? Hold on. Shooting the puck on net?

Unfortunately we can't bring this guy in now. I just don't think the rest of our team is ready to see a supernatural ability like that. It may cause long-term mental health issues for our players. Too risky.

Kamenev would certainly be a nice pickup or Cornell along with the selections Mattymo suggested. I think you can wait on a defender. All pretty vanilla. Though England and Petterson intrigue me.

Do you guys think we should throw a few picks together in a package to move up to the 31 to make sure we get Barbashev? Over on CHI's board there is lots of talk about trading to get him, if the Hawks fans want him that bad, then I want to make sure they don't get him. Maybe our next 2 picks would be good enough, what do you guys think?

I would do 33 and 82 to move up to 31, but I wouldn't give 52 for it. If we have to settle for Kamenev, Donato, Cornel, Lemieux, Macinnis, so be it. That said, I really do want Barbashev and I hope he falls to 33, but that seems unlikely.

With 3 guys who should have been first rounders on the board, I do not see a team trading that pick outside of massive overpayment. We could get it because they would still be within the window to get one of them. Chicago doesn't even have a 2nd rounder. They would have to give up a prospect to get him or a late 3rd plus. Would you give up our 33rd for a late 3rd other picks?

Wonder if the Blues would have taken Schmaltz if Chicago didn't trade up to get him. Either way, I'm happy with our pick.

That seems to be the indication. I doubt it was just coincidence, though I'm not sure how Chicago would've known. I would've been happy with either guy, but Fabbri would've been my number 1 choice. I think they'll both be very good players in the future.
