No, he shouldn't get a red card. What should he do? Let the guy keep biting and possibly rip some flesh off his shoulder? What Suarez did is assault. If it was witnessed by the ref there was zero percent chance of the Italian player getting carded.

Champions League is UEFA, and each league's jurisdiction is by their own FA, as it is organized by that FA.

Not only that but the play is being reviewed and there is no chance Chiellini gets disciplined for protecting his body from another man biting him.
Tbh I am impressed at Chiellini's constraint in regards to the situation. I can imagine many players assaulting Suarez if he but them. It's a taboo cowardly act that is universally frowned upon.

It does raise interesting questions. Clubs pay to aquire players and they pat their salary. They only get a small compensation from FIFA for the participation of their players.
Suarez is valued at +- $150M and a two year soccer ban would obviously completely ruin Liverpool's investment.
Imagine if McD got into trouble in the Olympics and the IIHF threw the ban hammer on him (The NHL is a private league so they can't, but aside from that it's comparable).
That depends if it's a time ban or the usual amount of matches ban. In the former case I'd agree with you, that the FA likely would honor it, but in the latter it makes no sense, as only international matches would count anyway.

I love how everyone is hating Suarez. I am not justifying what he did, but for some reason he makes watching the boring sport much more fun. I kinda like it.
Well, you're posting in a World Cup thread. I think just about everyone else in here would disagree with your characterization of the sport as boring. If you didn't think the sport was boring, you wouldn't need to be amused by ridiculous antics that disrespect opponents and the game itself. I mean, biting a guy is physical assault. And not in the way that fighting in hockey, or boxing, or tackling in football is assault...those are sanctioned activities within the rules of the game. Biting is just barbaric.
You're entitled to your opinions, obviously. I'm not telling you that your opinions are wrong. I just vehemently, vehemently disagree.

I'm pretty sure even if FIFA tried to ban him from ALL play that Suarez would get a lawyer and fight that to the death. Something that happens in international play generally doesn't have an impact on playing for club teams. Same goes for play for the club teams, vs international play. I think that would be a nasty road that FIFA probably would avoid.
Obviously, he deserves some sort of lengthy suspension here and I'd prefer to see him not be allowed back on the pitch for Liverpool or wherever he ends up, immediately. That being said, I get the feeling the only way that's going to happen is if his next club team, whoever that may be, imposes their own personal suspension on him for his acts.
I will say this, Suarez was probably going to end up on Real or Barca but I'm not so sure that's a given at this point. Liverpool might just be "stuck" with him now.
Soccer is one of the least boring sports on the planet. It's easily my #2 to hockey. The fact that you think it is boring shows how little you comprehend what actually occurs on the pitch. And for the record, I wasn't raised on soccer and I'm a full blown American, so this is coming from a guy who literally has no bias. In fact, my dad laughs at me because I like it, because like you, he's never had an open mind and refuses to try and see just how great a sport you're missing.

International games and Champions' League is not boring. However, when you grow up in a country crazy about this sport where you see this **** every freaking day, and also on lower levels, it gets a bit boring.
It's like growing up watching 5 competitions of ECHL-calibre hockey almost every day. I love the World Cup, but here in Europe there is too much focus on the sport.
Suarez obviously has some serious mental issues. Experts say something unusual probably happened to him as a child.

Well, can't say i understand what it's like, since Soccer is literally thought about in the USA every four years. Although being in NYC, it's easier to find like-minded people. I really mostly only watch the EPL and champions league. I have a subscription to bein, which allows me to catch a lot of other games as well in Serie A, League Cup, La Liga, etc. But those two are where I focus my attention.
MLS just isn't there yet and I"m not a real fan of retirement leagues, which I think it really still is, hence the likely forthcoming signing of Lampard.
He would probably take it all the way to CAS (Sports arbitration court in Lusanne, Sui). He would also probably lose.
FIFA's bylaws (which are determined by the membership association) are pretty clear. FIFA may suspend players from the sport if they do something to damage the reputation of Soccer. I'd say three biting incidents is up there.
Now I agree they should limit this to
International games only. Just sad that such a great player is such a crybaby, victim playing, biting rat. It's like Crosby times a million.

I watched one baseball game this past year. 26 commercial breaks, almost four hours long, and the ball was in the field of play for a total of 71 seconds the whole game.
Some controversial players make (made) the sport more interesting. Your Maradona's, Marco Materazzi's and Cantona's.
Then you have your Busquets', Pepe's and your Suarez'. Quality players who disgrace the game by their demeanor and dives.
