Perhaps CBJ front office signs Penner to PTO with this Horton injury? Or do you think they'll just look to someone like Rychel to take the spot temporarily
I'd love Penner, except I'm thinking there's got to be a reason why no one has signed him yet. He had 32 pts in 49 games last year for Anaheim, along with a +22, and they don't even want him back... Is he too lazy? A dressing room issue? Not following coaches orders?
If there isn't a good reason I'd love to have him. Our lineup starts to look pretty shallow and small without Horton and Johansen. Rychel needs to be in the AHL.

i think they'll go into camp with a "there are two spots open, who wants them" mentality and go from there...if no one does, they may go look for a player via trade or who gets cut...

Lots of guys to pick from to fill out the bottom and probably the RW on 3rd. Who exactly goes into the top line RW?
Maybe its just my cynical nature but to me that doesn't look like a great team on paper. The depth is quickly becoming thin.

With all this news, and judging by JK's comments today to Bob McE and Jody, I think Simon Hjalmarsson makes the team.. So I think EspenK is on the right track with the lines.

I don't get a warm feeling looking at a top line of Hartnell-Dubi-Foligno but you may be right. And the kid line scares the bejesus out of me. Unfortunately no matter how I try to scramble them it looks ugly to me.

Hi guys. Blues are starting today as well just with physicals and all that. Amazing that in just a couple of days they'll be playing a fake game in Columbus.
Blues are streaming the radio feed of all HOME games in the preseason. Was wondering if the Jackets are going to do the same? I'm starving for professional hockey and would like to at least listen on Sunday. Thanks.

I'm sort of on EspenK's side of this one. We still have lots of guys who can fill in okay in the top 9, but its a bit thin, and with our normal rate of injuries this could get bad. If I was really excited about Hjalmarsson and Wennberg being on the team I might have a different opinion, but I want those guys to prove it in the AHL first, at least for a few weeks.

i'm gonna wait to see what we have first...guys like Hjalmmer and Gibbons may be better than we give credit for...we don't know...
Gibbons is totally on the bubble. But if it makes you feel any better, a lot of Pens fans were mad that he got snatched away.
Trade Horton to the Islanders next year so he can occupy the iron lung/bubble that DiPietro was supposed to inhabit.

I'd love to see Gibbons get an extended audition in the top 9, he did okay in that role in Pittsburgh (IIRC). but I'd also like a good insurance policy in case that doesn't work.

You know, there has been a lot of talk about Joey's absence opening a door for Wennberg. It hasn't been mention much I don't think, but this really presents a great opportunity for Arty. If Joey is gone for awhile, his minutes should see a nice bump. Hope he takes advantage.

I think the discussion was mostly around Wennberg making the team at all. Having said that, AA's time should go up. However, it depends on what they do with the center ice position as a whole. For example, if the move Jenner to center.
I tend to think, as someone else posted, I could see Letestu's role increased quite a bit as well.
