Why in Gordie Howe's name would Skille go from wavier wire to first line? Why would Skille be in the top 9? He was ok last year as a fourth line guy with some offensive upside. Once he was put on a higher line where he was going against opponents better defenders he did very little.

Also, with the return of RyJo, I see no reason to keep Wennberg in Columbus. He did not show much scoring potential to be kept as a winger and now we have enough centers on the roster. It seems he is primarily a play maker not a scorer. We have five centers now with RyJo in camp. Don't need a 6th. Let him play center on the top line in Springfield rather than playing out of position in the NHL. Dano can play wing effectively. And without Boone or Horton we need wings who can score. To me that is Dano not Wennberg.

"After playing mostly on the fourth line last season, Skille will get a shot in the Blue Jackets’ top nine this time around. Richards said he’d play on the left wing, but it’s unclear which line he’ll join."

And why would you move him from right wing to left wing unless he was destined for the 4th line??? We have Hartnell, Foligno and Calvert on left wing already.

That's possible with the following assumptions:
  • Pittsburgh's coaching and GM replacement falls through and does poorly (not too likely but possible),
  • Stepan being out hurts the Rangers even more than one might normally guess (pretty feasible IMO, given their quality of C depth),
  • The Isles don't live up to the sudden hype (ennh, maybe),
  • The Devils and Capitals pretty much stay where they are and/or fall even further (not bloody likely),
  • Absolutely nothing else major goes wrong for the Jackets (LOLOLOLOL).
So, yeah. If you're feeling generous, you could pencil us in for the Metro title. But I wouldn't bet on it.

He also picked CBJ vs DET in the ECF last year. I don't even know too many fans expecting a division title.

I'm fine with Bucci being a CBJ homer...that's good for us on a major media stage...

Hey Jackets fans, question for you; what's Ryan Murray's status? I have him in my keeper league but he's listed with a knee injury? Is he going to be good to go this week?

He skated full participation today. So if he isn't ready for opener he will be ready fairly soon

Desire and hope, sure. Expectation seems a little overambitious at the moment.

They were 16 pts (8 wins) behind Pitt. I expect CBJ to be 4-5 wins better and I expect Pitt to be 4-5 wins worse this year. I'm not going to call for heads if the Jackets "only" make the playoffs, but if they finish 16 points out of the division again, I will be disappointed.

Goal? Sure. Expectation? Please. They shouldn't take anything for granted.

Good teams go into the contest expecting to win. It isn't taking anything for granted at all, I would hope that the players go into any game expecting to win, the fans as well, if not, they why should the players play and the fans watch? For entertainment? Nope, if I want to be entertained, I'll watch a movie.

Ah. I don't see Pittsburgh getting that much worse, if at all. :dunno:

OTOH, I think the Rangers' days are numbered and am living in fear of what's going on on Long Island, so what do I know? :)

From here on out the expectation should be to win the Cup. Every year.
I hesitate to describe such a goal as an "expectation" because I don't want to deal with calls for Davidson's and Kekalainen's heads if we "only" make the Conference finals. ;)

Who would've thought at the beginning of July that Dano, Wennberg, Chaput, Erixon, AND Goloubef would be on the opening night roster.

Who would've thought in September of 2013 that Jenner and Johansen would be two staples of our top-line.

I tend to agree. The expectation this season should be to win a series in the playoffs. The goal remains to win the Cup.
