Thoughts on lines:

Hartnell - Joey - Foligno
Jenner - Anisimov - Horton
Calvert - Dubi - Cam
Hjalmarrson - letestu - Boll
Tropp

Sadly I think Gibbons (and D'amigo) will start in Springfield. I'd really like to give gibbons a shot on the big club though based on what he showed last year. This is contracts based purely.

As for the lines above, I wouldn't mind finding a way for letestu to play with Joey, but I don't see how without dropping someone else too low in the lineup (maybe Foligno to the 3rd and Calvert to the 4th). The second line came straight from the WOWY. Those guys had some of their bedt numbers with each other, it should at least be tried.

Both of those guys are not waiver-exempt by my calculation. Most guys get through waivers after training camp because rosters are full, but I could see considerable interest in Gibbons.

Jackets likely keep two extra forwards so Gibbons or D'Amigo could stick. Unfortunately the bigger need might be to protect Goloubef on D. Could get claimed but maybe not. Not a lot of D depth for call ups that I see. More F depth than D depth.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we get 12 forwards, 6 d, 2 goalies, and then spots for 3 extras, correct? If so then I think keeping our 8 d should take priority, and just have one extra forward spot.

I'd hate to lose Gibbons, Hjalmarsson, or D'Amigo already (would all need waivers?) It'd be a terrible waste if they don't waive Boll.

Waive Boll and what? Pay him 1.7m to play at Springfield?

Not going to happen. The only way Boll leaves is via trade - and when healthy, I'm not all that sure I really want to be without him. I think many vastly underrate his contribution to this team, on the ice and in the room. I'm not saying they can't be better without him, or that 1.7m is fair, but I am saying I think he has more of a place on this team than many here seem to grasp.

As for losing D'Amigo, Hjar-Hjar or Gibbons, I really don't think I could care less at this point. Gibbons would hurt, I guess, but it's hard to get too worked up about losing someone who's never been here.

According to Capgeek H-J is waiver exempt-the other two are subject.

And I don't think they give Tropp a one way if they are going to subject him to waivers but who knows.

You're not going to get your $1.7m dollars worth whether you bench him, park him in the AHL, or have him stink up the 4th line. (This could change if his health improves, but he can prove that in the AHL first).

And is anyone here actually qualified to talk about the Jackets dressing room dynamics? I hate it when we bring it up because we don't actually know anything.

The three new guys are better, and I'd rather not lose them. I'd hate for us to have our normal injury problems and have a line get ruined because our injury replacement got waived to accommodate Boll at the start of the year.

I'm not sure how many know D'Amigo is better than Boll. Has anyone actually seen him play? Same with Hj. The fact that Chi wanted to sign him? Put me in the camp that says Boll is here for the season and will hopefully have a role for his 1.7 mill.

I actually assume we play boll. The one that gets me is Tropp. I just don't see much value there. After last year I'd really rather have Gibbons from what I saw.

Ive seen D'Amigo quite a bit and im a pretty big fan. He wont throw massive hits but hes a solid kid for his size and wont get pushed around. He plays a different game then Boll but I think he'd be more effective at the end of the day. There is a reason so many Toronto fans were upset he was traded much like us and DMac when everyone else was thinking he's just another 4th liner

The fact that i don't think Boll could even get near top 5 in scoring in the SHL or even the top 10 for that matter.

Boll will most definitely play, but he wont play more than 30 or 40 games.

sweet, a CBJ team website puff piece

and does @AlisonL realize he just got some easy points from filling in on Sid's wing?

A background piece on a new addition to the roster posted on the team website - and you expected insightful criticism? And do you realize that easy points picked up next to a star playmaker are what makes playmakers stars? How many assists did Nash, Johansen, and other former CBJ playmakers lose because their line mates couldn't cash in on easy points?

You annoy merely for the pleasure of it.

so getting information out about a recently signed player and who they are for fans that aren't in tuned with the rest of the league is a fluff piece...ok... SMFH
