Still interested in Patrick Sharp if the Hawks consider moving him to clear the space they need. I believe they're about 2 million over the cap right now.

I know he's been exclusively a wing for the past few years, but I think he'd fit well with St. Louis / Nash.

Derrick Brassard, Danny Kristo/Jesper Fast for Patrick Sharp

Kevin Klein would have to be moved in a separate deal to make the cap work.

Nash Sharp St. Louis
Kreider Stepan Zuccarello
Hagelin Miller/Lindberg Haggerty
Glass Moore Mueller/Lindberg

McDonagh Girardi
Staal Boyle
Moore McIlrath/Allen/Kostka

Lundqvist
Talbot

Would leave about 1.5 million in cap-space

I'm a big J.T Miller guy but to me at a 1 yr, 1 million $$ deal I think it would be well worth the risk for the potential upside he would provide.

And with his playmaking I would've certainly put him with Nash to see if they clicked to hopefully get more out of him and it also allows Stepan to maybe center Hags and St. Louis on a really solid line.

and to me Miller would best be served sliding into Bennys spot at LW with Brassard-Zucc and I think JT would excel in bringing the same speed, size and crashing style that Pouliot played last yr. it would allow for him to play to his strengths as a player while also playing a keep it simple game.

Hopefully Miller is as ready as they think. A Dubinsky-like rookie yr would go a long ways to improving this team this yr.

So basically scrap parts for Sharp?

Brassard isn't a scrap part.

Miller and Fast are solid prospects, especially Miller.

Chicago isn't getting full value for Sharp if they're forced to move him. Everyone knows they're over the cap right now and NEED to make a move to get back under it.

IMO, either Leddy or Sharp are getting moved.

Sharp out and Brassard in gets them under the cap with about 1 million in wiggle room.

Just a thought.

And while he's 32 years old, he still scored 30+ goals and 70+ points last season (and he doesn't play with Kane or Toews regularly). He's good for at least 25 goals every season, and at 5.9 million that's actually a very good deal these days. Hell, we're paying Nash 7.8 for less production.

This..

Hell, who knows, maybe Miller becomes more comfortable on the wing due to lower defensive responsibilities... hurts our Center depth, but if our winger depth gets even stronger, then we're not entirely up the creek without a paddle...

I see no reason at all Miller can't pot 30 points... If he scored 43 points in 41 games in the AHL, and we transpose that into NHL points at a 50% capacity of the AHL points scored (assuming Miller is half as productive as we saw in the AHL), then we're looking at 43 points in 82 games, a *FULL SEASON*...

on a line of Brass-Zucc, or Hagelin-MSL, there's no reason it's not possible...

BUT, I am not against insurance policies... something tells me there is another trade offer hanging around and the Rangers Brass is waiting on the RFA contracts to be decided... I assume theyre looking for a 3-5 year contract for Brassard and Zuccarello, and probably a 2 year bridge for Kreider and J.Moore...

Once those amounts are known, we'll have an idea of what's left for any remaining trades/UFA's still available.

Also take note that the longer a UFA stays on the market, the lower his value is going to plummet... No reason that Winnik, Setoguchi, or Booth sign the same contract, if not LESS $ than Ribiero and Roy just signed... not one doubt in my miond.

I like the idea of Sharp, but hasn't he primarily played LW the last few years? I'd much rather see if Nashville is taking calls on Smith or Wilson since they have like 7000 centers now. Smith would be my preference since he's right handed and has a connection with Stepan and McDonagh. Wilson would also be another solid option.

Wouldn't trade JT Miller straight up for Patrick Sharp--1. because of the cap hit and 2. because Miller has a future and we've been trading away too much future. Sharp's future is a lot more limited. We need to hold on to affordable contracts plain and simple. Miller's is affordable--Sharp's will keep us juggling with our cap ceiling for the next few years. There's a time in any case where a player has to go into the deep end of the pool. It's Miller's time.

Am told Oilers had interest in Ribiero on short deal, as did Rangers. No state tax in Nashville helps.

Ny has the best mental health providers out of the three, so happy he elected that not paying state taxes was the priority for his family though.

If Patrick Sharp could play center adequately, Chicago wouldn't be thinking about moving him and they wouldn't have played Michael Handzus as their 2C well past his expiration date.

Why do u think Kreider will get less than 2M, and Moore more than his QO?

Valid points.

I just like Sharp because he's actually on a very good contract.

5.9 million for 30+ goals and 70+ points every season (and a proven playoff performer) is a steal these days.

We pay Nash 7.8 for much less than that and a disappearing act in the playoffs.

whelp, I was wrong about the Rangers being interested by still very glad somebody signed him instead of us

Judging by some here its outrageous to indicate that we pay Nash to score goals

Is there any possibility of a separate trade proposal thread so we can keep this one to actual news and rumors?

Nice soundbite.

But cheap insurance is better than no insurance at all, which I fear Miller/Lindberg would provide.

I don't agree that it's better. All insurance comes with a certain expectation. Cheap insurance lets you down.

By the way, we have insurance. His name is Dominic Moore.

Technically, this thread is the "proposal thread", you would need another one for the rumors.

At any rate, if we made a separate thread specifically for rumors it would be derailed with trade proposals within the first 5 posts.

I have no problem with letting a kid or two play.. but relying on what appears to be 3 kids in the same season (3c, 3LW, 4th liner), is a bit much.

Once the dust settles with the RFAs I fully expect the Rangers to try to bring in another vet wing on a cheap $1M-1.5M deal.

I would assume they want to deal with the RFAs first, see how much cap room they actually wind up with. Can Zucc/Brass be offersheeted? That could factor in as well. Forget what the new rules are with arbitration.
