What are the interesting names out there that might be worth bringing in on a PTO?

Leino
Malone
Setoguchi
Penner
Tootoo
Ryan Jones
Gomez (not kidding)
Loktionov

Nothing wrong with warm bodies in camp to provide extra push.

I roll the dice on Leino over any of those guys.

A lot of those players have large frames and a history of decent offensive seasons...

Hard to believe Pouliot got 20 million but these guys can't get a 1 year deal.

He fits the system as a 4th line winger, for sure. Be a good option to sub in over Glass vs speedy teams.

Yup. Was never a top six guy. Not his fault he got that contract. A good system fit. Think he could do a job.

I'd be fine with giving either Malone or Leino a PTO for camp.

Malone is a big body that needs the right linemates to succeed. I wouldn't be opposed to him being a 13th F and potentially finding his niche in the event of an injury. He's the kind of guy who will suck with third-liners, but could look like a top-6 power-forward if he finds the right linemates. He's got size and puck skill. He just can't skate and he's been called lazy. But in the right situation, I don't see why he couldn't put up Pouliot numbers. Who knows. Worth a look. Same with Leino, who could be a nice fit on the 4th line with Glass and Moore.

Malone is a coke head Jesus this isn't nhl15

There are probably many (successful) players in the league who mess with that stuff. It's kind of a popular drug in rich, white circles.

Malone is done, though, and bringing a known cokehead to NY is not a good idea.

I didn't see anyone say "Let's offer Malone 4x5mil."

A tryout was being discussed. That's all.

Both Malone and Leino are worth a look, and will likely either receive tryouts with some team(s), or sign overseas. They're still good hockey players, even if their NHL-regular days are coming to an end.

It's because pouliot is ridiculously good at puck possession.

I don't care what anyone says, but there's absolutely no way I'm bringing Malone onto this team. I'm sure guys on the Rangers have messed with drugs here and there, many rich, young men do, regardless, there's no reason to risk bringing in someone like that. Also, there are much better options and we don't really have any spots.

Get a guy like Leino in here or another one who will push other players or young guys to earn there spots. I don't want a guy who just got arrested doing that.

But how much of that is relative to his linemates?

His linemates perform better with him than without almost uniformly, often significantly:

Poo also took bad penalties at bad times but people tend to forget about that. TBH I'm glad he's gone since he asked for that much.

Penner is out there. Fedotenko. He's kind of old but if he can still keep up--he's a smart player that can do a bit of everything. Penner is a big body and will give you inconsistent offense. Kind of like Pouliot.
