All this talk really makes me miss Dubinsky, attitude, swagger, and all.

Honestly what a great opportunity for Miller right now. To potentially play with MSL or whoever if the Rangers decide to roll 3 equal lines. I hope he realizes what's in front of him and is working his butt off.

It's unreal how 21 has become the new 30 around here. McIlrath and Miller basically busts.

Pronger would have been traded way before he ever becamse good, so would a million other players for that matter.

My personal favorite stat is that in this much maligned 2010 draft the Rangers apparently screwed so bad, is that four defensemen from that draft have played one full season. Fowler, Gudbranson, Faulk, and Gudas.

Gormley who everyone would've loved to have is still in the AHL but funny no one mentions.that.

I totally agree about Miller... but disagree about Mcilrath, wake me up when that guy ever makes the Rangers defense.

Four defensemen have played a full season from that year. One being a top 3 pick.

and he won't crack the RANGERS defense especially if we sign Staal.. because we would have all kinds of defenseman ahead of him, as I've said, wake me up when he makes the RANGERS defense.

Staal has nothing to do with McIlrath's chances. None.

Where does McIlrath fall in? He is not a better option than Klein. Maybe John Moore? John Moore would really have to regress for McIlrath to get a CALL UP this year. And then next year? Even if Staal isnt here anymore, i think the rangers organization, given AV's style and the changing landscape of the type of game that is successful in the NHL these days, see Skjei ahead McIlrath at this point. The organization wanted him to turn pro this year. And of course there is still John Moore and Klein to beat out. It will be very tough for Mcilrath to make it to the NHL with this organization

Doesn't he play the right side? so for at least 2 years with Boyle here, he's behind Girardi, Boyle and Klein. and even if he can play the left side, he will be behind Mcdonagh, Staal if signed, J Moore, and Skeji at the very least. probably even Connor Allen too. which is why I said wake me up when he makes the RANGERS blueline, he might be an NHL player at some point, but he's going to have a very difficult time cracking the Rangers blue line.

If they like what they see out of McIlrath enough then they can flip Klein.

Yeah to bad he really came into his own when he was traded, him now would be a great 2C for us.

He'd honestly fit anywhere in this lineup and probably be awesome for us: top-6 LW, 2C, 3C, 3LW.

Oh well. Maybe he'll come back and retire here when he's 36 in true NYR fashion :P

If McIlrath has more value in a trade then I'd prefer to keep Klein who has a solid contract term and salary. Plus Klein is a solid and underrated player on this team.

Hopefully Miller realizes the chance he has in front of him and has taken his off season seriously. And when the other guys are back in NY skating before the season, he needs to be there. He has to show it's important to him and he's going to do everything he can.

If McIlrath develops enough value in a trade where it's even slightly enticing to trade him, then we shouldn't be trading him.

Makes absolutely no sense.

We should also trade Skjei because McDonagh's contract is way too good. Should also trade Buchnevich because we already have Nash locked up long term.

Makes plenty of sense. What you wrote is hyperbolic bologna.

Klein's contract and consistency is an asset to a team up against the cap. The Rangers do not have a ton of attractive assets. If a McIlrath can upgrade the offense more that a Klein trade can (which it does) then you have to do it. There is no guarantee McIlrath will ever be as good as Klein is.

Thank you. What the hell the other guy was talking about i have no idea. But thank you for understanding my point. I dont see room for Mcilrath. And like you understood the trade off of what trading Klein would bring back (plus losing his very cap friendly contract and his consistency) vs what an unproven Mcilrath would bring back for some more offensive help is what i am putting out there for consideration.

How Skjei, Buchnevich, and Duclair made it into this discussion is shear ignorance.

Do we have a chance of signing Hayes? I posted this in the Trade Board thread.

If we were to acquire Hayes (and he proves to be ready for a top-9 job), how would this lineup work? It would keep the three chemistry pairs (Kreider/Step, Brass/Zucs, Hags/MSL) intact. Even more speed... But Stemp on the 4th would potentially be a problem.

Kreider - Step - Nash
Hayes - Brass - Zuccs
Hags - Miller - MSL
Lombardi - Moore - Stempniak
Glass

If Miller has a problem, Lombardi slots up. Perhaps even more interesting would be if Glass is kept as the extra and Lombardi skates in his slot as illustrated. That depth... It would still have guys like Fast, Lindberg, and arguably Kristo knocking on the door if anything goes sour, not to mention the vets we have in Hartford in Bourqe, Mueller, and Tarnasky.

It would be more like a 1, 2A, 2B, 3 system, in my opinion. Speculation and hypotheticals can be tantalizing.
