2014-2015 Manchester Monarchs - 2015 Calder Cup Champions!

Ugh. That didn't take long. 2nd penalty for Auger tonight.

Markstrom blocking out the sun and Mersch's shot hits the goalie's chest.

Monarchs get a power play.

Decent first. A bit of feeling out period. But I thought the Monarchs were the better the team.

Hopefully Schutlz will return. That would be a big lose.

The Monarchs have got to get this power play going. It's been their biggest struggle in the playoffs. (They were ranked 1st in the league during the regular season)

Went with 5 F on the PP. makes the first unit strong, but weakens the second. Not sure if he's trying to save some D minutes with Schultz down. Look to see if Forbort or Gravel spend some minutes on the PP. Utica PP goal with Miller and Bods out there. D are a little mixed up for now. Lots of shifts playing with guys you normally never play with. Forbort played with Miller a bit also. They have hardly played together ever at all.

R u at the game? Is Schultz on the bench?

Stoked for all these guys....especially Weal, who has been down there for 3 seasons, O'Neil, who was barely an AHL player or starter a few seasons back and Bissonette, who has probably hasn't played this much since juniors.

Schultz done for the night and in street clothes per CNS on twitter.

Weal and Kempe look fantastic.

Utica scares me because Markstrom will hold them in it just enough for them to strike. one shot so far for utica in the 2nd.

It's been all Manchester through 40, but they have to get the go-ahead goal and bury their opportunities. Kempe is pretty damn fast and slick with the puck.

I love how the Monarchs play, you see how much yapping they do. They are trying to bully Utica. I love it. Everyone is trash talking...Bisonette is stirring it up from the bench at the end of the 2nd after Weal's late hit.

This is more exciting than most of the Kings game this year. Manchester has smaller skilled players and bigger tough players, not just a bunch of average size guys with hands of stone.

Lombardi and co. better wake the f up next year and give some skill a shot and clear out some of this dead weight. So sick of seeing Richards, Stoll, Williams float around during last regular season. Not big, not using their skill, not really doing anything. The Monarchs all have tons of energy from the smaller guys to the bigger guys.

Dwight King better step it up, there are about 2-3 guys playing tonight who could steal his job in a year or two.

Weal, Kempe, O'Neil and O'Brien are the standouts tonight. Not noticing anyone on D really besides Bodnarchuk.

Berube has been really good, IMO, even though he's had fewer shots than the other goalie.
He's made tough saves at pressure moments.

Maybe he's sort of a Gerry Cheevers-type, who doesn't necessarily have the most dominating stats in the reg season,
but is almost always there for the big save at the crucial moments, and can win the big games.

King scouts are looking like Einsteins, at this point.

Seems like the kind of games you often end up losing, doubling up the opponent in shots but tie game heading into the third.

I think Weal is going to play with Kopitar-Gaborik. From everything I've heard from all these off season interviews it will be something like this below. They want him playing wing and possibly on the 3rd line.

Gaborik-Kopitar-Weal

or

King-Lewis/Shore-Weal

Training camp and pre-season is going to be fun to watch this year, just to see how many prospects will get an opportunity to play with talent and see some quality ice time.

Co-signing what others are saying, Monarchs are dominating play, but they gotta get more scoring chances and goals.

Some Comets fan here is really offended that fans are saying sucks after Comets fans chant "Utica." He seems to be putting the blame on me. It's nice to be recognized. lol.

Quick is here again tonight. This time they were a little smarterand put him in the upper level suite. He was mobbed with fans last game.
