I thought he played well for being a freshman, but man were the Flying Dutchmens FLYING!!! Gotisbehere. Philly got a good one. Dominated the entire game.

Don't forget that the team was crap when those two got their 5 game stints. This is a much different team and time for the Kings.

Did the same thing with Shore last year. Got him to sign by promising to keep him on the Kings roster instead of signing him to Manchester. He never played a game but practiced, traveled, and stayed with the team for the playoffs while collecting an NHL paycheck instead of AHL money.

And yeah I'm totally late to the party with this comment, but I wasn't around all last week and just saw this as I was checking for updates on the CHL playoffs.

You're always welcome to fly into the ring late with a dramatic entry if you're going to support my point.

The Baie-Comeau Drakkar are 10-0 in the playoffs so far.

Zykov has 3 goals, 6 assists, 9 points and a +1 in those 10 games.

I have been watching most of these games live and in person.

Zykov can do amazing things with the puck and has made some passes that are elite NHL level things of beauty. 3 years and we will see a very exciting player break the line up. Our 2nd line has its speedy sniper (imo) for the next decade.

Nah he sucks cause of that WJ performance.....:)

;)

Z has a rare set of hands and can skate. He hits like a train but he still needs to be able to put it all together to make the next step. Looks like he will and I do love what I see but this young man has a lot to learn.

His attitude and character are what make him special imo but time will tell.

Guelph Storm defeated the Erie Otters 5-0 to win the Western Conference title. Evidently Guelph is a pretty dominant team. I'll bet Nick Ebert doesn't mind being traded there earlier this season.

Kitsyn finishing the season with a +15 in 33 games? That's very telling. His offense AND defense are steadily improving.....

trying to remember, but wasn't Max the guy we were discussing a few weeks ago about going back and working on his two way game? the fact that LA would tell him to focus on this and how it may not possibly fit with the coaching staff on the team itself wanting him to?

what's your point? why belittle the kid's improvement? does his improved play only count if its the AHL or NHL? he won't get there until he completes/improves his game at different levels along the way

How do we know there was any improvement? He went to basically the lowest level of full professional hockey and wasn't even PPG and not even top 4 scoring. But because he was a + on one of the best teams in the league we assume alot. If Trevor Lewis was dropped to the AHL and scored 60 pts would you cite improvement there?

In fact, he WAS!!! If you project out his stats to a full ECHL season, you'll see that he would have been BOTH the goals and points leader on the team.....

Guelph beat North Bay 3-2 (OT) in game 1 of the OHL finals. No points for LA's 3 prospects, Leslie and Ebert were both -1 and Auger was even with 2 pim.

Funny how many LA players/prospects have come out of Guelph. Doughty, Brown, Auger, Leslie and Ebert (who play on the same d-pairing). Makes it easy to cheer for the Kings in the playoffs.

We love it! :thumbu:

Thanks for the update! Can you tell us anything about the style or chemistry of the Leslie-Ebert duo?

Sure, I'm not a talent evaluator by any means but they make a very dangerous offensive combo. They're used on the second PP unit and typically get second pairing minutes after Finn-Trojanovic and ahead of Harpur-Baltisberger. I find that Ebert can be a bit too aggressive at times in jumping in on the rush, but he's been much better at that as of late. Leslie has been playing a bit more conservatively to cover for Ebert, but he still has 7 points in 16 playoff games so he's still contributing.

Guelph is a very, very offensive-oriented team that relies on good puck-moving d-men, and Leslie and Ebert have been excellent in those roles. Ebert especially has made some big strides since last season. Both will need quite a bit of time in the AHL to iron out some wrinkles in their game though.
