I like the kid and I'm pulling for him. Maybe he can be part of a trade package later for let's say, a goalie prospect. ;) He has no future with the Kings but maybe he'll have a chance with another team. But being a small scorer is very tough. Kozun had just a brief cup with the Leafs, O'Neill is not making much of an impression with the Devils, and Weal is not being played. It's hard to translate their game to the NHL level when they're small.

Kings seem to love drafting these smallish high scoring forwards. How many Kozuns, O'neill's, Weal, Azevedo's do we need. None of them will ever make it. Surprised they didn't draft Johnny Gaudreau in '11. Seems like only Calgary can get these guys to pan out. But I agree they don't translate well and I doubt Watson will amount to anything.

That's because when they do pan out you get Gaudreau, Tyler Johnson, or even like a Nathan Gerbe or Gionta. Nothing wrong with taking flyers on skill guys late in drafts, I don't get the complaint (or UDFAs, in some cases). Especially when the Kings have either been drafting late in the first or not at all, and have a redundancy of 'character' guys. You can't draft 100 of the same player, need diversity.

18 Mike Amadio C 22 13 17 30 +5 12 1 4 1.36 0.55 244/516

Amadio has 30 points in 22 games - including 13 goals
leads the league in short handed goals with 4 - plays the PK and has a bit of size. Sounds like he is having a great year - playing on a team that isn't great also - next best player stats wise on the team has 16 points.

Holy cow, yeah, he's crushing it. Fantastic to see him take another great leap forward. Guy seems more and more like he's gonna be a player!

Mike Amadio is a bigger Mike Richards.

Kid is a gamer, just has all kinds of Grit, all over the ice. I hope this kid puts it all together, he is special.

Plays Great at Center, good in the circle as well, Two weaknesses the Kings have. Best part about this kid; Mike hasn't had the best team last season or this season.

He is the best player on North Bay. He makes team mates around him better. That is a very good sign.

Mike Amadio is not getting carried, he is doing the carrying.

It would be nice if Mike could develop into that bottom six Center, with offensive punch the Kings have needed for the last Four seasons.

That would be a home run for a 3rd round pick.

I thought Shore was going to be that guy, but it's looking like Shore's offensive game, is not going to translate to the NHL.

He's a pretty big kid for a teenager, too. That bodes well. Just oozing all-around player ability which is great, he's getting big minutes in all situations. Can't wait to see what he can do surrounded with better players that have the IQ to play along (though one of their rookies is a stud too).

Man, hope he can keep up that and the development. As someone pointed out elsewhere, it's impressive that he had the two-way game but continued to develop offense, especially on a not-so-great team.

Shore had a slow start at every level of hockey (college, AHL, NHL).
Don't count the kid out yet. The more conservative play by Shore is fine. Kid is a rookie and needs to bulk up as well as get the NHL level hockey come to him.
Shore has replaced Stoll just fine for a rookie. I mean, I am sure Shore has less late 3rd period penalties then Stoll had last year...
:)

I think what is impressive about Mike is ; the Kid is not lazy at 200ft of ice like a lot of JR players are.

Amadio is instinctive about playing 200ft, also works hard all over the ice, Impressive.

Another 2 goals and assist for Amadio in a 6-3 win for North Bay. What's most impressive is his penalty killing numbers. He leads the entire league in shorthanded goals AND shorthanded assists (4 EACH, for a total of 8 shorthanded points) in 24 games. That's an average of a shorthanded point every three games.

Nobody else in the league has more than 4 shorthanded points. The only other players with 4 shorthanded points are his teammates.

Watson also had a goal and 2 assists for Kingston's 4-1 win.

Do you think Amadio has a chance to make the World Junior team for Canada?

He's definately put himself on the radar out of almost nowhere (no summer camp invites or anything). He'd be the ideal 3rd/4th line C for them, IMO. Canada tends to very very strongly favour draft position though so who knows.

Slowing down the Amadio hype train for a bit, apparently Matt Mistele has been traded to the Sarnia Sting.

He has 16 points in 19 games this season, but Oshawa as a whole has been struggling this year.

But wasn't that the thought process before this year. That Oshawa was an older team last year and had star players move on. So they were going to suck this year and sell off older talent. And they were trying to trade Mistele to a contender.
