Lol - Maybe the issue is that no one had wanted to admit to it in the past?

Yep, I remember all those Sunday afternoon games where the likes of Dave Kreig would be thrust on an undeserving viewer. Those were boring games. Steve Largent, ok. Heck, I even remember Jim Zorn.

A totally irrelevant franchise for many years. They've sure turned it around now. Took a gum chewing college coach to do it. :)

Isn't that the truth. This is why I detest Seattle. Really until the last handful of years when TV coverage improved, you were stuck watching them while numerous other more entertaining games were being played. I don't know whether it was the awful uniforms, the often dreary weather in the stadium, or the totally nondescript nature of the franchise, but I don't think there was ever one time I was actually interested in watching the Seahawks play football. I'd just go do something else and pray that next week they had a bye and I could watch any of the other 31 teams instead.

Yup. Back in the day of the old AFC West. Chiefs, Raiders, Seahawks, Broncos. Before Elway in Denver. Seattle would inevitably be playing one of those disasters most weeks. Some of the most boring football known to man. And while I'm sure that some have held Seattle allegiances through the years and are long-suffering (kudos for your patience), most watchers couldn't endure that football. Especially in light of the quality stuff that was being played around here a the time. Yeah, back when WE were relevant.

I started following the NFL with interest right around the time Seattle switched the the NFC West. Which has typically been weak up until the last couple of years. Usually provided one ho-hum 20-14 game after another.

The ironic thing is, I'm a Panthers fan. Arguably the east coast version of the Seahawks in many ways.

The main reason I dislike Seattle is because of Sherman. Nonstop motor mouth on that guy

Yeah Newton has a lot of work to do there, unfortunately.

The Panthers wound up in the conference finals (semis?) in something like their 2nd year, much as Jacksonville had also done soon after their inception, but they've done very little since. They'd had a pretty solod D to follow there for awhile, but generally there's little to get excited about there. Plus, they haave to contend with Atlanta and NO in that division. Ugh.

Guess he's the perfect example of the player you'd love were he on your team, but otherwise you hate him. Look, I don't have an issue with cocky. It's in-your-face stupidity and attention seeking that I take issue with. Pretty sure I'd still struggle with him as a Packer. You want to be able to like your guys.

It's like when Tony Mandarich was drafted by the Pack and he was easily disliked. Or when the Eskimos signed Jeff Braswell some years ago. I think that symbolized the end of The Eskimo Way.

Great examples of players that embarrass your team.

What a display of quarterbacking in the Falcons vs Saints game today. Huge win for the Falcons. Great result considering the shape of their O-line and then the loss of their starting rookie RT before the half. The defenses on the other hand look a little rusty to start the season.

It looks like Jerry Jones paid off the refs before the second half of the SF-Dallas game. Putrid reffing

That's about as bad of reffing I've ever witnessed in the NFL.

You know it's bad when even Aikmen is saying they're not gonna like the calls in NY.

something fishy with the way that game was called in the second half.

Dallas is also terrible, so it might be that affecting everything.

Dallas finishing 4-12 or worse would be delightful. Having all the Dallas "media"(cheerleaders) on TSN 1260, talk about how bad the defense is, all the injuries, Tony Romo being hurt, and then having the gall to say "yeah, they should finish 10-6" seriously, just pathetic.

Also, I don't know what the Giants will do, but I hope I can get a feel tonight against the Lions.

The Seahawks deserve all the credit they're getting. They manhandled my Packers and only gave Rodgers a glimpse here and there. Game was over by the end of Seattle's first drive, imo.

But it's classic... as it tends to be EVERY year, there's such a load of sudden SB winning team supporters that seap out come next season. Honestly, where were all these Seahawks fans through all their years of mediocity? I'm not saying here in these particular threads, but I'm running into supposed Seahawks fans everywhere.

I know, I know... everyone loves a winner. But I laugh at how few people can stand hanging in there with a loser for awhile. Lol Any other suckers out there who'd endured the years of Lynn Dickey at the helm of the Pack? Blech!

This really was the samething that happened when we went to the Cup final after the lockout. So many casual fans that just watched a game here and there all of sudden became fans that bought merchandise and tickets and actually started supporting the team financially.

This is why i like the opening weeks of the NFL season. Everything is "out of whack" with what most traditionally believe.

For example...

- i don't think the Packers are as bad as they looked vs. the Seahawks
- I don't think the Vikings are as good as they showed against the Rams
- I don't think the Dallas Offense will as anemic as they looked vs. the 49ers.

In a few weeks everything will start to find its equilibrium and football will become a little more predictable... but for now I will continue to enjoy the upsets.

There was something weird with the reffing the second half of that game though.

Dallas committed suicide the first half and the refs tried to resuscitate them in the second half.

I saw about 3-4 penalties in a row in that second half against San Francisco labelled "illegal contact" in which either there was hardly no contact at all or the Dallas player was the one who made more contact. Also, I noticed a trend where most of these penalties were on 3rd down (San Francisco stopped Dallas on all of these downs but the refs gave Dallas every opportunity to make the score at least respectable). I agree that Dallas was pretty terrible in the first half in terms of turnovers and it seemed as though the refs were instructed at half time to give Dallas every chance to claw back in the game. I guess being "America's team" has its perks

I've been a die-hard Cowboys since I was born (thanks to my dad) but until Jones dies or relinquishes power, they're going nowhere and my faith has been shaken

this guy only cares about publicity and franchise value...he doesn't care about winning whatsoever...

what a sad state of affairs when the relevant profitable and marketable NFL team has slipped into obscurity and irrelevancy

That kinda sounds like what someone would have said about the Leafs in the 70s-80s.

The over officiating of these games is really hurting the product badly.

Quite the move by the NFL and Balitmore to suspend Rice indefinitely and cut him.

Curious to see how this all plays out now as I'm sure the PA is going to fight tooth and nail for h im.

Well he's been charged with Aggravated assault as well, so that makes it easier.

Either way, the NFL looks stupid, and all the "good'ol boy"ness that came out in July is just disgusting.

At least they got it right and eventually made changes.
