OT: 2014-15 NFL Season Thread

I think I know who you're talking about
But honestly, the CFL is a joke. Especially this year as the divisions are one sided and there is a flag thrown every 2 plays. It looks like a bunch of amateurs playing, especially in the East. Heck, the last 3 games I have turned the channel off because it was literally unwatchable

Every year I find myself jonesing for football before NFL pre-season fires up. This usually results in tuning in to a couple Eskies games. Maybe it was just the timing of the plays I tuned in to, but it was painful. Wide open receiver - dropped (though they are trying to catch a medicine ball, so I get that). The next time I tune in, it's against the Stamps and the Eskies have their punt blocked where they have two guys back to block who decide they're bullfighters. Ole!

NFL pre-season has it's flaws, but at least you get a quarter of first string guys.

I don't fully agree with this. I know so many people who would support an NFL team but could care less about ever getting behind a CFL team. Id argue that Canada has a larger following of the NFL than the CFL as a whole. Fantasy football is huge, it has brought such a large audience to the NFL. I could care less about NFL until I started playing fantasy football, I would make a strong case that its more entertaining than hockey.

Best run league no doubt about it. Huge fan and season ticket holder. 16 games are much easier to follow and spend time on than 80. I really like their draft compared to hockey. You actually draft players to fill positions on your team for the next season, not guys who may turn out down the road.

Oh Thursday night football how I have missed you.

It's like the kickoff to the weekend.

As for the game once again a team was made look pathetic in Seattle. Rodgers looked like a rookie at times and was off.

The worse part is I think Wilson had some chances to do more damage on the ground, but didn't take advantage all the time. Could've been a far worse beating IMO.

I didn't...they are always the worst game of the week due to zero prep time and/or coming off a long layoff

I've always wondered why the NFL blows its load on Sunday afternoons.

They have such a national following that spreading the games out seems to make more sense to me.

I can't watch two football games at the same time.
I do love the channel flipping Sundays though.

Just thought the networks would want to space the games out more to capture more audience.

I should have clarified myself a little better. I like the Thanksgiving games too but only because they were a special event that only happened once during the year. There is nothing special about the rest of the Thursday games and I'd even include the season opening game. If you want to put the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks on Primetime that's what the Monday night game is for. I get why they do it and that it's all about TV and money but it just doesn't do anything for me personally seeing a game on Thursday night. Like I said, maybe it's just me.

They won the superbowl with cockyness and swagger. They have not changed. This is a big reason they are so good.

But it's classic... as it tends to be EVERY year, there's such a load of sudden SB winning team supporters that seap out come next season. Honestly, where were all these Seahawks fans through all their years of mediocity? I'm not saying here in these particular threads, but I'm running into supposed Seahawks fans everywhere.

I think there are a lot of genuine Seahawks fans in Western Canada. For years we were stuck watching their games almost exclusively on Sundays and grew up rooting for them because of it. I'm not a huge fan but they've always been the NFL team I've cheered for.

Yep, I remember all those Sunday afternoon games where the likes of Dave Kreig would be thrust on an undeserving viewer. Those were boring games. Steve Largent, ok. Heck, I even remember Jim Zorn.

A totally irrelevant franchise for many years. They've sure turned it around now. Took a gum chewing college coach to do it.
