Yannick Weber is fit and will join the team.

So it's just Furrer who needs to be replaced.

As for Simpson : No Sbisa

So Blum, Geering, von Gunten, Grossmann or Ramholt

I will cry if Blum makes this team. Geering isn't quite there yet, and I don't think Grossmann is a Simpson style guy.

I'd prefer Ramholt, but Von Gunten has been playing great hockey lately.

Josi-Diaz
Seger-Streit
Vauclair-Blindenbacher
Ramholt-Weber

No reason to split Vauclair and Seger.

Josi-Diaz
Seger-Vauclair
Streit-Weber
Blindenbacher-Von Gunten

Yeah i was wondering where that post had gone lol

But, hopefully Sbisa is your guy as the replacement.

Sbisa won't participate in this Olympics, Simpson made it clear he wants to go with a player that is already in the preparation camp now.

And don't underrate the Swiss defenders from the NLA, most of the guys in the discussion are better offensively than Sbisa. Sbisa doesn't seem to be a good big ice player anyway, he was not exactly stellar during the lockout. He's physical but you don't need that physicality if you have good positioning.

Anyone else think that Swiss could have used a guy like Andrighetto? He was great a few years ago at the world jrs and would add a boost of offense.

Not really. He's still young and he'll get a chance but he'll need to get out of the AHL to do so. Not even Baertschi was nominated because he's not playing in a good league regularly so he never really had a chance.

Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Admirals moved their game from 5 PM to 1 PM to help Simon Moser with his travel situation. He left on a 7 PM flight. Good luck to Simon and his countrymen!

According to http://www.hockeyfans.ch/news/meldung/35192 , the practice lineup is:

Brunner - Romy - Wick
Moser - Plüss - Niederreiter
Bieber - Ambühl - Suri
Bodenmann - :eek::eek::eek::eek:i - Hollenstein

Seger - Vauclair
Blindenbacher - Von Gunten
Josi - Weber
Streit - Diaz

The offensive lines make sense, two are back from last year while Bieber - Ambühl - Suri worked well during the Arosa tournament and the Romy - Brunner combo was the main offensive threat in 2012.

On defense, I'm surprised to see Weber with Josi, but I guess Weber's partner was the big question mark anyway. I don't know if Simpson plans to use five men units, but if he does, I expect the Seger pair to play with the Plüss line and the Blindenbacher pair to play with the Ambühl line as the most defensive unit.

Any idea on the PP lines?

Weber with Josi is a no-go for me, Josi is by far the best Dman on that team and needs to log a ton of icetime. something I don't want to see from Weber...

Have either of the assistant captains been announced yet? And as mentioned above, I'm suprised Josi is paired with Weber. Was really hoping for a Josi-Diaz pairing...

Assistants?

BgLdcxkCUAAFFJg.jpg

Here's the Sochi team picture. Looks like whoever 31 is (no player listed as 31 on sochi site's team roster) and whoever is in back with 20 something are assistants. Any idea who they are?
