That sucks, but he's coming back from a severe injury. He'll be there next time. He's gotta think of his career long term.

I wonder who they'll replace him with.

Hopefully his replacement is St. Louis.

Stamkos won't play in Olympics

"After reviewing the CT scan this afternoon, Dr. Gutentag made it clear to me and to Steven that the tibia is not completely healed and therefore he should not be participating in game action at any time in the near future," Yzerman said in making the announcement. "Although the doctor was very pleased to this point with the healing process, he explained that the callus surrounding the fracture site is not 100 percent consolidated, and Steven will not be cleared to play in a game until that happens. It was a pretty clear cut decision, no gray areas at all."

That sucks. Was really looking forward to seeing Stamkos play for Canada. Hopefully MSL is his replacement.

Poor Stanmer. That's a huge loss, but even if was good to go, his tempo/timing would not be great coming off injury. I wonder who will be named.

Sucks for Stamkos and for Team Canada.

For the best in the long run for his career obviously.

Who is the replacement?

I heard that Staal, St. Louis and Hall were on the short list to replace Stamkos. Giroux was not on the list.

Heard it on The Team 1260 earlier today.

This.

Giroux, Neal and TSN mentioned another person who haven't even been contacted to be on standby.

I say they go with MSL.

I'd like to see Giroux too he's been on fire lately

If they go with say Neal or someone like that on the sole purpose of replacing a sniper with another sniper I think they're making the wrong choice.

Significant loss for Canada but IMO a big positive for the Lightning. To have him available healthy and fresh for the playoff push is a win.

%$#@

Shades of Nagano 1998 when Kariya bowed out. Interesting to see who Hockey Canada goes with to replace Stamkos.

Who cares about the Lightning around these parts?
