Chicago's PK % is nuts. Thankfully there's nowhere for that to go other than down.

I'm surprised the Kings faceoff % is as high as it is after last series where the Kings got owned in the circles. Good to know Chicago's is just as awful.

I see a lot of 2-1 and 3-2 games in the Kings future. Hopefully they're on the winning end. PP conversion is going to be key.

Don't forget a stat that is, in my opinion, going to be our biggest savior this series:

TOTAL HITS:
1 LOS ANGELES : 536
9 CHICAGO: 299

Nearly 250 more hits.

Grind, baby.

Post season stats do not really tell a good story since the matchup of teams is more important than how a team did against their previous opponents.

SJ went from a 3.75 G/G against Vancouver to a 1.43 G/G against LA.

Chicago went from a 3.40 G/G against Minnesota to a 2.29 G/G against Detroit. Chicago only scored 2 more goals against Detroit than the Kings did against SJ.

The Kings scored 2.00 G/G against both St. Louis and SJ. I think the Kings could push that higher against Chicago since they are not as big as St. Louis or SJ, but the Kings need about 7-10 more shots on goal per game than what they accomplished in the first 2 rounds. Hopefully their 2012 forecheck will make a return against the smaller Blackhawks.

I still think the Hawks and Kings are the two best overall teams in the West. 3 games in 4 nights really sucks though. That could have a bigger effect than people are giving it credit for, we know that the Kings struggled all season in that situation, but at least the Hawks will be in the same situation. The Kings 4th line is going to have to give some significant minutes in the first 2 games.

Is ticketbastard the only source for tickets now?

Do Kings STH get first dibs on game 6 tickets?

Yeah but there wasn't much available and all were single seats. I doubt it wouldn't affect ticket sales much on some of the third party brokers...they will take you for a ride, that's for sure.

This may need to happen. As suggested, we may also need to give the 4th line a bit more ice time to further grind Chicago down and rest other players a little bit more. That all depends on the Kings offense doing well. I'd love for Carter to get hot and some 4th line goals would be a nice plus. We'll see what happens.

critically important imo, but to continue this what is more important is complete containment of the CHI forwards. if the Kings allow to much room then the BH's will make passes and LA won't get to take the body. Kings need to play very tight 5-man coverage the entire series, if they don't they will lose.

Last year I think we made Kovalchuk regret not signing in LA..now it's Hossa's turn.

(I realize he already won his cup so he probably doesn't regret anything)

I don't remember the Kings chasing Hossa?

Yes, they offered the same contract as Chicago, but Hossa felt that Chicago was closer to a cup than LA. He was right, Chicago won a cup 2 years before the Kings.

Brad Richards was the one who was wrong about the team he picked. At least Kovalchuk got to a Stanley Cup Final.

I'm thrilled Brad Richards chose the Rangers though.

IMO, If the Kings can put forth a solid 60 min and play with the intensity as they did in game 5 against SJ, Which I consider to be the Kings best performance all season, Then the Kings just might win this series. I believe the Kings are a much better team than they have played lately, So if the Kings play to they're potential Chicago's in trouble...

Right You Are

I really think StL and SJ defense is better than the Hawks. I think the Kings can score on them.

(hope I'm not wrong of course... )

The King O is really better than it might have seemed. Both the Blues and the Sharks have great D. We will see about the Hawks, but I think you are spot on.

It'll be nice to get Toffoli into some games too. He could help match the Hawks depth on the lower lines. Stoll is critical to this series, as well. Need to get our stars going...need to hit everything in sight too. While there SHOULD be a little more space out there, what worries me every time we play the Hawks is their breakout speed--we've already seen teams make adjustments to avoid getting turned into glue by our forecheck. I'm extra worried when Chicago works around it, as they've demonstrated how to burn us in transition/on the rush in the past. Just have to be careful with turnovers.

Whatcha' hearing?

Just that they really need every hour of the day. Penner is banged up never thought I would use that sentence . Looks like shoulder. Richards too, but that one was obvious.

Wouldn't surprise me if Penner's injury is from the Perron hit. That St. Louis series really took its toll on the kings.
The NHL schedule is so stupid. The two western teams both play game 7's so obviously they should not only play before the Eastern finals (same day so call it a draw I guess) but also they play back to back.
So Stupid.

What else? IIRC, Kopi's knee, Greene's groin, Brown's shoulder, and Williams' something-or-other.

Hopefully, it doesn't come down to injuries....

That's why its a bush league, plain and simple.

They should start on Sunday and go on Tuesday. But what the ****. Hopefully we can steal game 1 and really get the Hawks nervous about the back-to-back game 2 at home...hoping anyway.

You know, I just realized something. This is going to be the second year in a row we face Michael Rozival in the WCF. What are the odds Brown checks him again and his other leg explodes this time?

I have not read every post...

I am not that fearful of the ice opening up and the game getting faster. The Kings have the ability to skate and move the puck well. Moving away from the trench warfare that was the Blues and Sharks may make some of the Kings talent (line 1?) more valuable.

I hope their forecheck and hitting are in full force. I do hope that they can find some discipline and cut down on the penalties.

Does anyone else thing J Quick's puck handling has gotten better since his goof in St. Louis? He seems more confident.

The 3rd round was Dwight King's round last year. 4 goals in 5 games. Could use another one like that.

Brown/Kopitar/Williams, as a line, has at least 1, maybe 2 goals in 13 games. Are they due to get some goals, or is it just not in the cards this year for that trio?

I still see Muzzin making a bad read in the defensive zone the last time the Kings played the Hawks. Kane went right by him and scored. Sutter has coached the Kings to 6 consecutive playoff series wins, so he's doing something right, and Muzzin has played every playoff game this year. It's like you're just waiting for Muzzin to make a mistake though. A turnover in front of the net to, I think, Backes is one thing, but do it with Hossa standing there, it's probably going to be a different result.

Quick has gotten the Kings this far. He's pretty much kept them within a single shot every game. It's allowed the Kings to get going during games, especially when they've been kept in their own zone far too often. The Hawks get off to the same type of starts as the Sharks do at home. I remember many games where the Kings are in Chicago and down 1 or 2 goals 5 or 10 minutes into it.

I'm not expecting the magic on the road from last year, but they'll need some of that for at least 1 game.
